1929 Morgan Super Aero & 1934 Hale Morgan 3-Wheelers racing on Swiss historic hillclimb!
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
During the 2021 Bernina Gran Turismo, an event born in 2014 with the aim of keep the memory of the legendary Bernina Pass hillclimb race of 1929 and 1930 alive, I recorded these two 3-Wheelers being driven up the hillclimb course.
In particular these two interesting pre-war are a 1929 Morgan Super Aero Special 3-Wheeler (number 2, fielded in the actual competive race and driven by Sue Darbyshire) and a Morgan 3-Wheeler 'Hale' from 1934 (number 24 with red wheels, driven by Tracey Cameron in the Regularity classification). They are powered by V-twin engines, probably a 1,229cc V2 for the first and a JAP 1,100cc for the second.
If anyone has further and more detailed information regarding these two specific car, it would be amazing. Thank you!

I once drove a new one, a 2013 and they're just phenomenale. The sound, tha acceleration, the unwanted little drifts around the corners. Could do it every day for the rest of my life
I would really love to take a drive in one of those.

Fantastic 3-Wheelers,the true essence of Morgan
These things are always amazing. Really has that feel of being sat in a vintage plane when in one.

I used to rappel out of helicopters to neutralize explosive devices and was involved in one too many accidents but I love the old airplanes. I fell in love with a certain one though. It is a 1928 Morgan RIP with a GN rear making it a special. It has aircraft fabric and plasticizer dope sprayed over it. I am in the states and that is the only one in existence that I am aware of so I am building one from scratch using an opposed twin experimental aircraft motor to which I cast and machined an adapter to an MGB 4 speed transmission giving it a reverse gear and then through a driveshaft to an MGB rear differential with juice brakes and those beautiful wire wheels. I am using as close to the color of the original red as I can find for the fabric. It will have a wooden and metal frame and be almost an exact replica . The differences will be mainly safety such as A-arm front suspension and a pumped and pressurized fuel cell. It will look like it just needs a prop and wings and it could lift off. I will be starting to video the build as soon as my equipment comes in.
Man, crashing and/or rolling in these things must be terrifying! Still amazing to see them raced!
This video made my day (which didn't start great). Thanks! Love three-wheeled Moggies!

@@JonasRosenven That video is a classic! 😄 The happiest pair of bald men ever recorded! Shame Matt went away from doing videos like these. He only does modern cars now, and stupid TV-like shows.
Somehow, a Morgan vee-twin racing a decent course seems the essence of motor-sport. You can keep the red Italian stuff, and even the other Brit gear, the Moggie does it for me. The smell of Castrol R and burnt methanol and the sight of such a lovely thing drifting round the corners is “it”. Thank you for a great video. Les
Listening to this video without looking reminds me of a vintage Harley Davidson. Gotta love that v twin power!

What a strange idle

I saw that the driver is pushing the pedal a little bit, that's probably the reason :)

It’s a narrow angle V with a lopey cam. It’s probably hard to keep it idling without it cutting out, hence the reving.

Hola que hermoso video, muy buen audio solo ruido de los motores, me encantó.los felicito. Desde Colonia Uruguay.
To cool, what an experience that must be!
the Morgans sound glorious! brilliant
I'd love to do a crazy project with a three wheeler. Like adding either a diffuser on both sides of the rear wheel, and/or massive rear splitter for downforce. Active rear splitters, to activate downforce on the inside when cornering. It would probably have a similar feel, like driving a side car. The goal would be to achieve as much grip on the rear, as a good 4 wheel sports car. Still, would also love to drive one, that's completely, intact original.
0:42 The first red car is the Alfa Romeo carazzata tz2. The carazzata is the transmission, and tz stands for tubular zagato, the one who made this aerodynamic body using plane aero physics.

Just brilliant... lovely sound... I'm jealous....😭😭😅😅👍
i love this stuff. these guys are enjoying life. the sound of the engines is awesome
2 super cool ladies running up that hill! Good for you, lasses…
Epic machines, made to run to the mountain top. Cool sound and great video 19Bozzy92👍😎
Loved every part of this! Then sound of their engines, they way they handle. Looks like so much fun. What I don't understand is: They don't have headlights. Maybe you don't need them for this up hill run, and because it is held during the day. Other ones I have seen, old ones like these, almost always have headlights and tiny rear marker lights. I see them and imagine if they had wings,...like an old bi-plane, I could imagine them taking to the air. Marvelous,....keep 'em running, gentlemen!
When 1 thumb-up just isn't enough. Brilliant !

A guy in Massachusetts that I bought my Spitfire from, used to restore these (and Moran cars) and race them.
What a machine
Great 😊
It has the old designed Anzani engine :)
bravo aux pilotes ...ça doit pas être simple à piloter ces engins...
Супер техника 😍👍
the way it snarls as the rpms fall...
The green one sounds like something out of War of the Worlds.
EVERY time I see one of these I think of Peter Sellers, "The Party."
Always loved morgans,
Those things could really go by the looks of things. Especially with the right driver. I'm pretty sure I watched a clip here on KZread of Sue Darbyshire racing that Morgan...
I once drove a need one
I went thru a local drivethru behind one and in the passenger side was an airedale with goggles
Nice car bro 😭
As much as I don't like positive camber, these look right with it. Can't really tell what kind of front suspension it has, though.
