    My father told me the family had a Fordson back in the '30s, and that occasionally it would start backwards!

    That looks like a Hoyt-Clagwell to me. Look out that front wheel is about to drop right off there.

    My great grandfather bought one. Kept it for two months. Couldn't turn it around in a 40 acre field. Bought a Deere A GP with cutter brakes.

    In shape or dead lol. Are those lawn aerators on the back wheels? Can't imagine farming with that. Steering. Must have been a bone jarrer. Couple years look like the hunchback of Notre Dame

    They are spikes for traction. This predates rubber wheels on tractors.

    Yep, the flywheel magneto tends to get weak and they get hard to start by hand. Use a battery to power the coils for starting then switch to magneto power once running.
