Thank you. There are so many videos chock full of gimmickry and baloney. You get right to the meat of the jobs and explain clearly and concisely. Perfect.

I wish you could do my guitar’s work. You are an excellent lurhierie. The steps you share indicate you really take care of the instrument as you work on it. I see so many of these videos and the luthierie’s sometimes have shop which are not set up as well, increasing the risk the guitar is going to be scraped, scratched, or even banged up.

Thanks very much for clearly letting me know that i should take my busted dovetail to someone who actually knows what they are doing. Love your work

I'm working on an old archtop acoustic guitar that had a loose neck. I steamed off the dovetail neck and cleaned up the joint and tenon. What type of nut insert and fastener did you use here? They look sharp on your guitar and would be a good idea for me to try.

Those are Murakoshi Fasteners Shawn. There are commonly used in the "Knock Down" furniture industry.Make sure you try the fit on a scrap piece , before you insert the female fastener in the dovetail. They are driven in with a hex drive. You need enough tightness for the spiral threads to "bite" into the walls of the hole .... but not too tight or you will crack the neck wood. Again ... practice on a few pieces of scrap wood first ..... Good Luck \m/ ! MMcC

@@StringTechWorkstations Thanks for the quick reply. As soon as I posted I realized it would be very difficult for me to use this type of fastener on a f-hole archtop style guitar. I have no access to the neck block on the inside of the guitar without removing the back. I think I'll just have to get a tight fit on the dove tail with some shims. I could possibly use a strap button and screw to get a little more connection between the heel and neck block. I'm not sure if that is recommended though.

I'll glue ( hide glue ) the shims on the male portion of the dovetail ... let it dry overnight ... then sand to a perfect press fit ( dry ) checking all 6 trajectories of the neck to body angle ... before mixing up that final batch of glue. Good Luck ;^ ) !
