Please do a video on the case and winding mechanism modifications. Getting an old pocket watch to work in a modern case is a real trick.

I am very interested in a watch case modification video! The case & stem modification has puzzled me, I did not get a good look at it in this video. Excellent work, well done!!
I think its a piece of art you made there, very well done and as you say, the casing size suits very well on the wrist. Great job! I subbed!

Hi Charles. Outstanding work. I saw your post on Reddit about the “7 jewel Waltham”. I’m an amateur in the UK looking at pocket conversions to save these beautiful movements, but the crown mechanism has got me scratching my head. I would love to see your case construction process 😊

Thank you for your praise. Eventually I will make a video showing the process. I use the same sleeves and stems that Waltham used in the 1920's when they started putting their small pocket watch movements in wrist watch cases, I just modernized it a little for fit into a water resistant setup.
Case construction video, please.

Beautiful watch, lovingly preserved for future generations by making it into a wristwatch. I rarely click the like button, but this time I just had to. This is a watch I would buy, both for the enamel dial and for the beautifully (what I presume is) engine-turned movement decoration, as well as the sympathetically considered case.

I just bought one of your watches, how often should a manual watch be wound, etc.? I’ve never owned a manual watch in the past. I just love your work! It’s literally a piece of art.

Thank you for your purchase John. It is packed and will deliver in 3 days. Wind and set it each day you are going to wear it. It will run for about 36 hours on a winding.
Very nice conversation and video! I have an Elgin 0s movement that would make a great wrist watch. Would love to see how you modified the case to fit the movement I have a good idea on how I want to proceed but would like to get a few ideas from you.

Nice vidéo. What pocket watches size do you recommend to convert in to marriage watches? Should be used only hunter watches or 12 oclock crown version can be otherwise adapted?
@Watchspotnet
Жыл бұрын
Using hunter style watches is much easier. If you want to use open faced watches with the stem at 12:00 you need to either put the crown on top of the band, rotate the movement 45 degrees in the case and put the crown between 1:00 and 2:00 making a "drivers watch" or replace the dial with a custom dial and have the seconds hand at 9:00. Size wise, as far as I am concerned 0s, 6s, and 12s movements make 36mm to 44mm wrist watches and those are all good sized. Anything smaller or larger is not reasonably sized.
Any idea if you can fit a vintage pocket watch dial on a modern hand wound movement? Specifically, something like putting a 37mm Elgin dial on an ETA 6498. I am way, way more of an amateur watchmaker, and think this route would be easier. Thanks!
@Watchspotnet
Жыл бұрын
I just got out a dial from a waltham 12s and an elgin 12s and an ETA 6498 movement. Each has the seconds hand closer the the center of the dial than the ETA 6498. This means that even if you cut the feet off of the back of the vintage dial and glue on feet where you need them for the ETA 6498, the hole for the seconds hand will not line up with the post for the seconds hand.

Thanks so much for the info. Glad you had both of those pieces on hand. Yeah, the spacing of the seconds hand pivot to the main pivot was my main concern.
Very Good Job . What is the size of the dial ?
@Watchspotnet

The dial on the 6s movements is about 34mm in diameter.

Hello, there are no cases made for these watches. I make them myself.
Hello, please tell me how accurate is the clock and how accurate are clock mechanisms that are over 100 years old?
@Watchspotnet
5 ай бұрын
Hello, these are usually able to be regulated to within and average of 10 seconds per day if you take the time to dynamically poise them in all positions. If you just service them and slide the regulator to the best position they are always inside of a couple of minutes per day which is how they were carried 100 years ago,
