I want one! However I don't think I can defend a second car yet. But probably consider it when we get a young driver in the house in some years.

My neighborhood is mostly 50 km/h, some 40 or 30. Works perfectly with the 45 km/h. Some faster roads, but not too many.

we have many cars in our family including a Nissan Leaf. we have discovered after 6 1/2 years use that the leaf is only any good tethered to it's home charger range, where it excels in cheap overnight electricity local motoring. long distance, forget it, it is a nightmare to recharge, time consuming, anxiety and stress filled long distance journeys. The result is we never do it and get the diesel out for that. This car would be good as a second car, town runabout, just like our leaf is but not as fast and spacious but useful nonetheless! I don't know if I could put up with the attention it demanded though. I bought a BMW C1 years ago and although functionally very good, it made you into a laughing stock.

Yes. Great BIG things mostly!

I like it. I think there is definitely a use case for a small group of people. School runs, old people who only ever go down the shop, people with a commute through town, a winter commuter instead of cold weather riding on the bike.

The main thing about this car is that in France teens can drive it without a license, and a lot of parents will prefer that to having them ride mopeds.

The car is safer in my opinion, cause you can’t fall off

I like it - if you're willing to accept the Ami for what it is, that is, simple, basic city transport for short range journeys, then it makes a lot of sense. The looks appeal to me as well. Personally speaking, I like a basic car, and the Ami is definitely as basic as it gets. Would I have one myself? Yes.

Definitely beats Cycling and even though it only does like 30mph its better because you have a roof over your head , its like the modern version of a Model T Ford a car for everyone

The only thing that makes this a hard sell is its price. Loads of people would prefer this format of car to a normal car. Why do we so often need a big hunk of metal to go across town? The like of this, the Renault Twizy and the bubble car is what should have been made years ago.

Like the very first 2CV with 9hp/6.7kW, around 300-400cc and a top speed of 65kmh/40mph, the Ami can certainly meet the everyday needs for the majority of us. Citroen aught to bring real improvements and further tweaks to the Ami if they want to keep interest above other new coming electric microcars like the Microlino, or used cars and a bucket list of Chinese minicars that are ready to enter the EU and British market. Especially for all the other EU member state markets that don't have France's sans permis regulation. The Ami wouldn't need to be as software limited at the very least. It can obviously be cheaper for one. Its price reminds me how much a Citroën C1 or Toyota Aygo costed back in the 2000s. Suspension is rough, Citroen has the shocks and springs. The creature comforts just needs a little extra padding and cushion as it goes. The current Ami makes perfect sense for ride-sharing, but when sold privately to a lot of people Citroen leaves us with a sense of less value for money. There's doing improvements to the onboard charging, heater, better chassis and space utility, performance; Valeo provided the motor, which is just a 48v starting motor used in regular mild hybrids. There's a video of them in Las Vegas CES which unlimited the Ami's top speed to 80kmh/50mph. These things don't necessarily cost more money than the Ami now other securing supplies and R&D Citroen just needs to keep going at it, I'm sure they will overtime if they're convinced there's enough interest for this first Ami.

Can't wait to get one of them

I got my Ami in October. Fully comp Insurance with Churchill £170.

Can imagine police pulling people over because it's not fast enough to use on some roads.

I suggest that describing in detail the things we can see on the screen is not great presenting practice.

Lol the amount of Amy owners that call it “an electric car”. It’s not and can’t be. It’s a “quadricycle”. It has no safety features, no NCAP testing,airbags ABS brakes. Just a seatbelt. It’s driven by 14 year olds in France with no license required. The U.K. must have a full driving license as it weighs more than the permitted 350kg to be driven on a provisional or CBT.

Weight limit for AM licence has now been increased to 425kg without batteries…

If someone tries to open the door to rob you, when you’re waiting on the street for a traffic light. Does it open without key when you’re inside?

Where do you live? My car doors haven’t been locked for over 15 years now (the locks don’t work). Never had any things stolen or robbed… Even thinking about that you could have been robbed? How many times did it happened to you then? Edit: if someone is pointing a gun to you a locked car door isn’t going to stop that…

I really would love this car to go around London, but they really messed up by keeping the steering wheel on the left, I heard they make the car in a way that the pieces fit one side to another that’s why doors open one backwards and the other the right way, and the front looks pretty much like the back, this was to keep cost down, however if this is entirely true it would have been very easy to put the steering wheel on the other side, having it on the left make it a bit awkward to drive in my opinion and hazardous at times, for example when you try to overtake a bus that just stopped in a bus stop

I agree that it would be helpful to have it on the other side and it does make some things more awkward but equally if you are used to driving on the other side of the road this doesn’t matter that much. If I am honest I didn’t even realise the steering was on the other side until I had finished driving it to my filming location!

Also where did you find it for £19.99p a month ? As on Citroens website cheapest was £50 a month over 48 months and that was with a £3 grand deposit ? so was it a special offer or something

@@TechInTheCar Ah cheers for the info , I did see one with only 200 miles on it for £6000 on autotrader , I think that is a good deal for people like me who live in a very crowded city area with many roadworks as at the moment the car i drive is petrol powered and £162p a litre for petrol is too much.

This thing should have an option for 30-40kwh battery.

There is room in the rear for more batteries. The Valeo drive system is governed to 8 bhp and 28 mph via the inverter. It can be unrestricred to allow 16 bhp simply by a software adjustment. There are two grades of quadricycle, one restricted, one less so. Citroen, will, I think eventually release the unrestricted version in the Uk as it would probably triple the sales.

What nonsense! You are not buying it for £20 /month!. A down-payment of nearly £3000 and 36 monthly payments of £20 will pay for half the car. You then have to hand it back or buy the other half or p. x. against another vehicle. Hardly £240 a year is it?

His voice has vibrato on when he drives down the road xD This car looks cool and is a cool concept, but at the end of the day it's an overpriced toy.

It is a bit hard on the suspension and you can feel the bumps but because it doesn’t go fast that isn’t something that is an issue.

It’s a perfect car for short stop start peak traffic and for nipping round local estate .. and city driving .. it’s great fun and you wouldn’t take on a motorway as it’s not a car but a quadracycle.. and my diesel is £1.83 this is £1.50 or even free charges for 45 miles on a charge .. it’s handy for people who don’t do much driving and today our Diesel gone up to £1.99.. so even more reason to use

Even if this was introduced in the 1930's it would look dated. It looks so cheaply made, very slow, poor mileage per charge. Bad ventilation with windows which steam up causing visibility issue. The plastic tray interior is laughable. The issue which isn't laughable is the safety, the chance of surviving a crash with another vehicle on a dual carriageway is not going to be good. Its electric which brings us into the 21st century, but the rest of the car is Flintstones.

New Car? It's a quadracycle with a limited speed below the standard speed limit and a limited mileage. Heater is rubbish. Casn only charge up to 7Kw. Sorry I would rather buy a second hand I Miev which would be cheaper, go further and can rapid charge as well. Not for me thank you. It is basically a plastic box on wheels.

What are the emissions for the power station that provides the electricity then ?, don’t be fooled by EV’s being good for the planet because they’re not - it’s a con 😂

Stop calling it a car. It is not a car and never will be.
