A most beautiful song written by the white haired "Corrie" who's name I forgot, but I learned the song and I love it. I'm a Jewish American but I appreciate the beautiful thoughts here.

What the Corries did is this: they made a patriotic song into an international hymn. I know well about Scottish history, fraught with betrayal like no other nation, but despite all the junk, in the end it's their music which really "does it". Chapeau to the Corries! The best ever!

Most Scottish History is fake or spurious : Culloden / Prince Charlie / the Clearances etc. If Scotland was " betrayed " it was normally by Scots themselves. Scotland as " Victim " is an SNP election ploy . Most effective on foreigners for some reason.

I'm a proud English man but what a song and what an anthem. Goosebumps....

Unfortunately, I shared this video in a Medieval History group because I THOUGHT some might enjoy a modern song about Bannockburn. You wouldn't believe all the truly-butthurt angry comments from English-born members that post received. Really mean base curr comments against Scottish people. (And I'm of mostly English ancestry.) I mean, really? It happened almost a millennium ago. Why can't we all just appreciate it?

It's an interesting one. Personally, I'd rather have a national anthem that sang about great Scotland is rather than how bad the English are/were... No Scot is really interested in that garbage any more...

Roy Williamson of the corries wrote this song, that's him on the left of this video, unfortunately he died a few years ago of a brain tumor, taken far too young, similar to the unmistakeable Luke Kelly of the dubliners. I just hope for Roy's memory the aye's have it tomorrow (18th September 2014). Alba gu brath

Yes Mr Findlay, its a rebel song!! Have you ever taken a good look at the act of union coat of arms that's shown extensively throughout Scotland, most noticible above the Sheriff's head in court.
