i always loved Shelley Duvals fairytale theatre. This version of Cinderella has always been my favorite. anyone notice that the leader of the string quartet was also the matre D of the restaraunt in Ferris Bueller? lol this is one big ferris bueller reunion lol

IMO this episode has the most well-rounded, believable characters of the series. The King is the quintessential dad, and Tim Thomerson’s dry wit as the messenger is a scene stealer. The stepsisters...just hilarious. “Perhaps some....HAAAAAM?” 🤣🤣🤣 and who wouldn’t want Edith Bunker as a fairy godmother?!

That is the dorkiest but most adorable prince I've ever seen. When I saw this as a 9-year-old, I thought he was the cutest as well. 🧡

Matthew Broderick who played the prince in this version is a funny guy.

Matthew sure has such a sweet sounding voice. No wonder he perfectly fits the role of Simba.

The woman playing the fairy godmother is such a phenomenal actress. She also played the giants wife and these two characters are so so different. Wow!

🧚‍♂️ The fairy godmother, Jean Stapleton, is probably best known for playing Edith Bunker from the sitcom 'All in the Family' which aired from January 12, 1971, to April 8, 1979 on the television network, CBS.

I just came acrossed Shelley Duvalls Fairy Tale Theater about 12 hours ago and I have watched a few of her videos. Cinderella, Snow White, Rumpelstitlskin, and Jack and the Beanstalk and they were all great! I loved all of them!

I grew up in the 1980s. I loved Shelley Duvall's 'Fairy Tale Theater' on cable network. This was my second favorite episode. My first favorite episode is ''The Pied Piper of Hamelin' with Eric Idle. Thanks for the memories.

Thank you so much for uploading all these! I love re watching them. It takes me back and I'm glad to share it with my son.

lol She's the first Cinderella I've seen who asks why she has to do all of the house work and why she's treated badly. Nice, I like it :D

Ah yes. My favourite beverage: Ham.

A simply delightful selection of fairy tale stories. The actors do a marvelous job. The sets and the costumes are very nicely done. I think the viewer might be surprised, maybe even shocked, at how, a 'great' deal different many of these classic tales were originally written. They're cool, They're mostly the Grimm's Bros's, maybe some Anderson's, others I'm sure. Some of the tales are really dark. Instructional and behavioral type stuff I guess you could say. But, - Cinderella is WAY different. Yeah, she's in there, and yeah, it's her alright. It's just, - 'different.'

Yeah and since this version of Cinderella stars Jennifer Beals, Matthew Broderick and Jean Stapleton, it's like a crossover with Flashdance, The Lion King and All in the Family, isn't it?

This bring me back to when I was a little girl.

Bueller…? Bueller.…? Bueller…? (Someone had to say it😋)

I don't know how I did it but somehow I managed to not laugh until it was done. (I am curious about Edgar. I mean he did bring her flowers and it was forever since they last saw each other.)

This version of Cinderella is wonderful; it's somewhat like the original version. I love Matthew Broderick, but they could have found a more mature looking actor for the prince: he looks & sounds like a preteen. Also, they forgot the lizard footmen. Apart from that, it was simply wonderful

This was copied on a vhc tape which I watched again and again in my childhood. Also there version of cinderella too. The soundtrack of them dancing the first time brings back memories of dancing by myself in the living room while wearing my Halloween princess dress. Then jumping from couch to couch with a broom to ward off monsters. I was a weird kid. (Thanks for sharing the video)

Same, I was 4 when I first watched this version of Cinderella it’s been my favorite ever since and it was also on a VHS tape, with low quality so glad I found it here on KZread with a much higher quality.

It was perfect casting Jennifer as Cinderella. Not far off from her portrayal of Alex Owens in "Flashdance" two years earlier. Welder by day, dancer at night. Prettiest girl with grease and soot on her face. Mathew's performance here may have cemented him as Ferris Bueller two years later. His charm and his subtle comedy stand out here.

I like how Cindy started to ask why the fairy didn’t show up when her sisters were physically abusing her. That always confused me.

The prince is shorter than the princess and looks funny...unlike most of the prince charming who is taller and looks even more serious

that is abuse at lease cinderella is pretty well fit & kind

Cinderella's golden ballgown is kind of plain compared to the other ladies. I think the costume designers should have made it more elaborate.

With how damn long it took the fairy to do her job and how dark out it is, It’s gotta be 10p. Including travel time, She gets maybe an hr to get there, walk around awkward and have one dance before leaving. Home girl got screwed out of a party.

The way this fairy acts, you’d think Cindy was dumb as shit. Last I check SHES the one who didn’t think to rescue Cindy day one.

The second night of the ball the Prince while he was dancing with Cinderella,im pretty sure by the look of his face he had a boner.If Cinderella had stayed any longer,then it would have turned into an adult film 😂😂😂😂😂 By the way I hate the stepfamily especially the stepmother she was a bitch,my second favorite version of Cinderella after the Disney original ❤
