Yes but a cool thing about toygers in particular is when you buy one, most of the money goes to tiger reservation

If I had $22,000 to spend it wouldn't be on a cat. I'd rather spend a few dollars and get one from a shelter! There are way too many that are killed at shelters because no one wants them. These are by far the sweetest and loving cats because they know they have been "saved".

mwalsher for one shelters want to make sure the animals are going to good loving homes and not to abusers. also the pet normally will have all its shots and spayed or neutered. the money goes to pay for the vets, cruelty officers, utilities, and the building cost, pet food, medicine, liter, toys ect. most shelters are non profit and need that money to help other animals in need.

One more fact for you Cat Lovers: The first Scottish Fold was a barn cat found on a farm in Scotland. They started to breed with this cat, and it then officially became a breed.

We found our Russian blue abandoned in a box on a beach. I couldn't have asked for a better cat. 💕

proud owner of a RB and I am under lifetime contract as most are when buying a pedigree. If it's a true RB the owners could be subject to legal matters for abandoning a pedigree cat under contract. As reputable breeders would never sell without a contract that states cat MUST be returned to breeder if no longer wanted.

I found my chausie abandoned in a box with bricks on it in an ally. He was crying. And we couldn't find out why. we thought maybe he's just sad. but when we took a closer look, his whiskers where burned off, and he had bald spots. don't worry he's fine.

I have two cats, but I rescued them both. One almost got run over by my uncles car, and the other was a sick kitten on the streets. Please please rescue the cats that desperately need love and care. Now, my cats are as happy and healthy as ever, but there are some cats out there that aren't so lucky. Nothing can be more expensive than the love of a cat.

Oliva Bendtsen Cano you're right thank you for explaining that, and I wanted to add on: some cats are on the streets, but they are fine with it, and they are not hurt or anything, these cats don't need anyone's help, so I would suggest to leave them alone and help only those who need help. If you barely have enough room for a cat, I would not suggest buying, adopting, or rescuing one. But you can of course rescue a poor cat and give the cat to someone who has enough room for a cat. I am saying this because cats are very curious animals, no matter what breed and they need space to move around and explore.

I found a Norwegian forest cat kitten here in norway a week ago. The owner told us to keep it. We gave her flowers as a thank you. Someone stole the cat and it had some scratches. I named him Timio.

I was extremely lucky enough to have my blue-eyed ginger kitten given to me for free. I'm so grateful to have her. I love all cats (and dogs too) and when you have these beautiful fur-mates with you, money doesn't come close. I will enjoy every single day with her, whether the days are good or bad. She's definitely a cat for life! 😻😻😸😺😊❤️🙏

Rescues and shelter cats are good enough for me. All cats are beautiful (all animals in fact) and I'd love any of them, as they say, warts and all.

A shelter cat definitely! I have had cats all my life and have never paid for one, and many of those cats are ones that just magically turn up at my door. I think the fact that these 'breeds' are created, and most didn't even exist 50 years ago, is crazy. People can do some pretty strange things to get money. There are just too many cats in this world that need homes. The best thing to do is to adopt one.

jaytea - I agree with you 100 %. Both of my cats showed up at my door seeking a good home, and they found it. I wish they would do away with animal shelters- such sad places, with death hanging over them like a Damoclean sword ! I'd rather see some farms established where they could live outside cages and just have shelter available to escape bad weather.

TedBronson1918, I wish more people opened and maintained shelters like The Cat House on the Kings, in California. Look them up here on KZread. The woman who created that place is wonderful, she has saved thousands of cats over the years, and none of her cats waiting for adoption live in cages. She runs her shelter solely by donations, and from people taking tours there. If I won a lottery, that would be what I would love to do, rescue shelter cats, and let them live in freedom with me until they could find their forever home. My senior cat was born in our home, so she's never known the sadness of living on the street, or being in a shelter, thank God. But our youngsters, a two and three year old, were both rescued as tiny kittens when my sister found them on the street, abandoned, about a year apart from each other. One was nearly starved to death, a tiny bag of bones, when my sis rescued her from a bush on a busy street corner during a torrential downpour. Our youngest cat, a little peach tabby boy, had been flung from a moving car, and two women chased after him when he barely escaped being hit by cars, then dashed into some bushes. But once the ladies caught him, they admitted they each had nine cats each at home, and couldn't afford any more, so my sis brought him home. On top of our three, we feed more than half a dozen strays in our neighborhood, (and a couple of 'possums). A lot of them had once belonged to someone in the neighborhood who apparently hoarded cats. When she was evicted from her home, she left a bunch of the outside cats behind, poor guys. A few people on our street leave food out for them, in spite of our home owner's association always threatening us for doing so. I know I can't stand to see cats going hungry. I wish more people would care about the innocent lives that come into their care!

All of our 4 cats are adopted except one and he’s a savannah he loves to play is really friendly towards me my parents and my best friends but hiss and spit at the other ones he hates the dog has tried to sit inside the toilet and sleeps cuddled up to my face he’s only a kitten tho so is very small he was from a breeder and only cost £600 I love his so much at the moment he’s watching me type and is sat on my shoulder

I think that it's best to adopt older cats since they are less likely to get adopted, I usually just see a bunch of adult cats at the shelter, but the amount of kittens is much smaller and whenever there are a lot of kittens people adopt them really fast, I used to have a three legged cat however he passed away due to old age

I want a toyger and a khao mane........its not a fashion statement for me. Since owning a wild animal as in a tiger is completely an idiotic idea theres nothing wrong with wanting a pet that resembles a wild creature and with that purchase id be helping save one of my absolute favorite animals. Besides, ive had about 7 cats over my short lifetime and theyve all been street cats that i saved. Plus i saved others and found them new homes. I think buying a few kittens just once in my life is just fine.

Savannah, bengal, safari, pixie bob, ocicat, toyger, serval, chausie, caracal are all full or half-breed of wild cats. That means they're not truly domesticated and will destroy your home. They have alot of energy, need acres of space, need lots of food, need lots of patience, are incredibly noisy, incredibly dangerous (so no children or other pets), and must be allowed outdoors for walking or playing. If you have the time, money, energy, patience, space, and live in a state that allows a permit for this untamed animal, then sure go get your ego stroked by getting one.

I recently adopted a kitten when she was eight weeks old. The vet says she's a mackerel tabby. For me she she is my girl and now four months old. Yes I love all cats ♡

I am pretty sure you might find some for a cheaper price, BUT! Do not get them shipped to you online by any means! Its better if you meet the cat before you buy it to see if the cat likes you and you like the cat. Btw I have a norwegian forest cat 😺

As a crazy cat man, I have 8, all of which are rescues! Wouldn't mind rescuing a Caracal, Khao Manee or Egyptian Mau though. I'd happily have 9, 10 or 11 with the addition of one or all of those three. Maybe breed them, make a Caracal Manee or a Khao Mau!! >XD

rescuing cats is great but adopting from a pet center is way better... that way when you adopt a cat a new cat comes in and gets take cared... that way you're saving 2 cats at the same time

They're both equally good. If you rescue a cat off the street, it saves rescue centers space and food for other cats so, in the end it doesn't make too much difference but of course, both are immensely better options than buying :)

same thing, different words.. personally, i think rescuing is better. You know the animal has been abused or neglected and needs love, while adopting from a pet center could be the same, some have breeders partnered with them, while others get their animals from people who don't/ can't take care of them or even have breeders with-in the staff who supply the animals ( i know supply sounds weird, but that's how it is ) Either way the animal is getting quality love and care.

We began catching cats from the local feral colony, getting them spayed and neutered, and socializing the kittens so they could be adopted. The unadoptables we kept here with us. Over the years, the colony of around 40 cats has all but disappeared. We have 8 cats now, and they are the sweetest, most affectionate and playful cats anyone could hope for. Shelter or feral cats are definitely the way to go!

I prefer getting my cats from a shelter.. I had looked for 25 years for a second flame point...never expecting to find one in my local shelter...but that is where I found him when he was 3 months old.

Kelly S I have both. I love Himalayas and recently my 17.5 year old Himmie died. I searched high and low for a "used" one but was always beat to adoption. I now own a one year old purebred. Her personality is COMPLETELY different from every adopted cat I've ever had but very similar to my old boy. Her sister is a foundling. I love them both.

Hello, I'm from Thailand and I'm very familiar with Khao Manee cats, I saw a lot of misleading comments and I just want to clarify things. 1. I saw a lot of people having whole white cats are claiming their cats are Khao Manee. No. KM is KM not just because they're whole white. KM is an old natural breed that has its own unique genes. Almost all of whole white cats in western world are of British, Turkish or even Persian breed; or even mixed, nothing at all related to authentic KM. They and KM are visibly different. You can pinpoint if you really know the authentic KM. Thus, for those who bragged they got KM cat so easily by adopting a white stray cat found on streets in western world, I can only tell that's extremely improbable to really happened. 2. Most people say KM is extremely expensive in Thailand. Not true. Just a few decades ago KM was still almost common cat breed any cat lover is affordable or even free to adopt. Then after foreign cats were excessively imported and cat adoption became a big business, Thai cat breeds were declining because of less benefit. But not yet that KM cats in Thailand become such relics as western pet vendors told you. They just tell tales to exaggerate the cat price. In fact, you can still adopt KM kittens from some Thai friend who have the new born for free or you can buy a KM kitten in Thailand at USD $150-200 rate. 3. Few things I can tell you on how to spot if a whole white cat isn't a KM are:- 3.1) If the coat is thick then it's very probably not a KM, you know KM is a tropical breed, shouldn't have thick coat. KM's coat is short, not so dense and is much more delicate, also is very easy to get stained. You'll often see a KM with not purely whole white coat, blemished here and there especially at tips and underneath of limbs, stomach, and ears while the much more dense coat of white cats of western breeds will look more fluffy and clean all the time like white fur cat dolls. 3.2) Body shape, very slender and relatively elongated in KM, with more slender limbs; More stout and rounder with thicker limbs in western breeds. 3.3) Ratio of eye size compares to head size and face shape: KMs have relatively large marquise shaped slant eyes compares to head size (see in this video) and elongated heart or apple shaped face. Most western cats have oval/round eyes in quite short, round and flat face while Thai cats have more extruding mouth. 3.4) Eye colors: KM's can be of blue or golden (sometimes greenish yellow), both eyes or odd colors of the two -- almost like in western white cats. Difference is in KM, cats with odd-colored eyes are much more common and very much less related to deaf genes like in western white cats with odd-colored eyes. I really hope people will be understanding the difference now. Thanks to anyone who have read to this line, cheers.

i have 3 Lilly my first cat was from a shelter, while Oliver was abandoned as a tiny kitten and found by my uncle who then took him to me and my dad. My uncle was going to take Oliver back but then he noticed how well Oliver and Lilly got along with each other and let us keep him. The third one, Jerry, was a kitten i found this summer that looked like it was a feral abandoned by it's mother (possibly because of how sick he was, eyes sealed shut with grime and mucus + a very runny/stuffy nose) and I took him/cleaned him up with gloves (that i made sure didnt have any scent on them) after finding him in my backyard when i got home from summer school. Then I let him out but took him back in after seeing no mother cat around, and before someone says it's because of the scent of 'human' or something similar, Jerry wandered over to the very back of the yard, where neither me nor my dad go often and I made sure there was as little scent as possible, and stayed over in that area, yet still no mother cat. So i took him back in and now he plays with Oliver or Lilly and has fun chasing toys that the older two hardly ever play with...

From what I have read, the answer is yes and no. A true and extremely rare Ashera also has been bred with leopards and Servals and the domestic cat. The Savannah is a mix of Serval and domestic. But, you are right in saying that most of the cats sold as Asheras are really just Savannahs.

I've got a khao manee for free,I rescued it. And I'm in the UK and they are so rare to find outside of Thailand! Mine has gold and blue eyes!

i want to adopt a cat from a shelter because it's more good.I will take care of an abandoned animal.

Found kitties are the best and have the best stories. We found ours in the backyard as a feral kitten. We tamed him and took him to the vet. His siblings are now our neighbors pets.

I have too norwigen forest cats they were once wild when they were baby's but they lived wild at our friends house they caught them and brought them to us it took a while but finally they got use to us and they are not wild anymore they are so beautiful and sweet

Caracal is NOT A PET. I'ts an African wild cat, it needs a lot of space and it has a strong predator instinct. Just because it looks cute as a kitten it doesn't mean it can be a good pet.

These cats are all so beautiful. But I prefer to adopt a cat from a shelter. The shelter cats are the ones that really need homes. Plus, I don't have thousand of dollars or even a few extra hundred. I could spend my money better on adopting a cat and caring for him. ❤😊

Sadly, it still happens. Lots of shelters euthanize dogs and cats if they do not find a home after a certain amount of time. It's really terrible. :(

I used to have a Bengal with three legs but he died. Rest In Peace, BoBo. 😿 Oh and now I have a Peterbald and a Cornish Rex. And another cat I used to have was a Devon Rex. He died too. Rest In Peace Waverly.

I adopted an adult male Bengal who was abandoned by his previous (apparently abusive) owners. He was in a very bad state when he was rescued - it would break your heart. He's a typical Bengal -- active, vocal, need lots of activity, loving, and will let you know what he wants. He's a bundle of joy and doing well now.

I got my cat for free. but how I got her was really sad. She was a kitten trapped in a sewer. I don't know how long she was in there. but enough to lose her voice. All she had to drink and eat were worms and dirty water. Later, My mom's friend found her and called the fire department. they said they get there as soon as possible is what my mom's friend told me. 3 days later she got the cat and took her to my mom. I was at summer camp, and I was playing out side and my mom called me over.I see a box with my now cat in it and I here her meow. it broke my heart. Later (again ;-;) we could name her. My mom picked the name Bette Davis. (or just Bette) A person you never knew that were famous. After we got home she puked up a live worm on my moms new 1,000 dollar carpet. (the stain is still there and it is gross and my cat likes to lick it) THAT IS ALL FOLKS

joevina 28 mei my aunt does. The cat is absolutely beautiful, her name is Pretty Kitty because nobody really bothered to name it anything else, she goes outside and plays in bushes, then at night she goes back inside the house. If the door isn't open when she wants to come in, she waits in front of the glass door of the porch until someone opens the door that leads from the garage to the house (there's a always open door that leads from the garage to the porch).

With the huge BONUS that they're much healthier than the other cat breeds. Available worldwide in a street/shelter near you. Don't shop, adopt. And if you have this kind of money to buy these expensive breeds and want to be a real hero, donate that money to the shelter. You have no idea the difference that that would make for the animals and how amazing that will make you feel.

I've had 2 cats on this list, 1 we found outside with many flees and it was a kitten of the outside cats so we took him cleaned him and everything, the other 1 was a breed of my aunt's cat and we got her for free, wow both rare cats free lucky me they were amazing
