Incredible that Martin Tyler was commentating in 1977 (in fact his first football commentary was in 1974) and still commentating in 2023. He will be 78 in Sept. 2023!

We had it in our area of the country , always enjoyed Hugh Johns commentary every week on a Sunday afternoon 2pm after a Sunday roast aah those were the days .

That's a good Newcastle top.

West Ham managed to avoid the drop at the end of this particular season , but went down the following year, with Newcastle and Leicester joining them in Div 2. In 1977, Stoke, Sunderland and Spurs were relegated.

Yes, their last two games were against Liverpool and Man Utd who were both playing in the FA Cup Final a few days later and were probably saving themselves a bit.

That was George Lyall of Hull's last game in the Football League. The break obviously killed his career as he only played less than 50 non league games for Scarborough.

Terry Mancini,previously with QPR and then Arsenal sold him to Aldershot. He hosted a Christmas "Big Match" and his guests were Rodney Marsh and Terry Venables.

Mac Donald loved himself , Mervyn Day was awful and Bonds soo overrated .
