181. The Birth of Babylon
In January, Tom and Dominic explored the history of Babylon, from Nebuchadnezzar onwards (episode 145 in the Rest Is History feed).
At the end of that episode, there was a promise to revisit Babylon's earlier period to fully do the topic justice - so here it is!
Tune in to hear about the constant theft of the Statue of Marduk, the formidable Assyrians, and what Dominic describes as his 'favourite impersonation ever'...

Great as usual!
Enjoyed this, as all of your podcasts. Thank you!
Excellent work. Really excited to see your channel grow.
Wonderful discussion, as usual, gentlemen. From a historian's point of view, the question of when and where in history you'd most like to live might be a tired one, but I find it fascinating. Lately I've been leaning towards ancient Minoa (Crete). Prosperity, security, a rich and colorful culture, social mobility, running water, casual nudity (lol), the Minoans had it all. If there's enough there for a podcast, I'd love to hear your thoughts on Europe's first great civilization. Cheers!
