there's much lower profile and simpler (and less finger pinchy / hit stuff inside the cabinet-y) concealed hinges already commonly in use though

Do the linkage pivot points have the potential to bind due to the moment from a heavy door? Could a spring be added to aid in opening or closing?

It's possible. But first of all make the parts stronger or use more hinges.
