#18 How To Install Spark Plugs on a Ford Focus ST Mk2

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Hey everyone another video from the ECP Channel, and in this episode I will show how you can change your spark plugs at home, this is a straight forward job that can be done in 1-2hrs and at not a lot of money for a full set of RS Spark Plugs. This will also give you a opportunity to see the health of your engine as the colour of your spark plugs once you have removed them can give you a good indication if there is a underlining issue that you may not know. if you have any questions please feel free to ask and support the channel by SUBSCRIBING, sharing the video as well as hitting the LIKE button thank you.

    The first time I changed my plugs, the first one I tried to remove was extremely tight! I was terrified of it snapping. Thankfully it came out, but the porcelain did break. It's not necessary to disconnect the battery when doing this job as the engine is not running so you won't get a belt off it. Good video though mate, looking forward to the next one 👍

    Hey buddy yeah they can be tight, it's good best practice to always disconnect the battery when working on the electrics, but it's always down to the individual in the end. I should have another coming on soon thank you for the complement buddy

    The core ring on the spark plugs will shatter before the spark plug snaps mate and will cause misfire or igniting with over flow of oil 😎just saying good vid dude👍

    That is very true buddy, I aim to not go to technical when explaining stuff as it will just baffle to many watchers, best to keep it short and sweet lol

    Great video bud very helpful, do you just install the plugs straight out the box with no adjusting for the spark gap ? Reason being I see a vid of someone putting plugs in he messed around with the gap and caused a misfire

  • @ecp4538

    Yes I did, these were RS Spark plugs that come pre gapped at 0.07mm, I mean you can double check but to be honest Bosch no what they are doing and spend millions on production I'm sure they can pre gap the electrodes correctly, I would never recommend messing with new spark plugs.

    Nice video, but it is far easier to remove the crossover pipe. Also I wouldn't bother disconnecting the wire from the coil pack, without the crossover pipe on there's plenty of room and reach on the cable to allow the coil pack to be removed while connected.

    @ecp4538

    Hey buddy thank you for the compliment, yeah true the crossover pipe out the way would make things a lot easier, you could leave the connectors on but you always run the risk of snagging a wire or pulling one loose, but both options are optional thank you for the input buddy

    When I saw him leave to bolts in the cover and ignition coil I said to myself, take it out as you undo it or you'll drop it somewhere. What did he do? Turned the coil upside down and dropped the bolt down the back of the engine. oops!! could have been worse though. I wonder how long it took to find it? Put them in a pot, preferably a magnetic one. Good vid though.

    Next time buy some genuine Beru plugs. These engines dont like Bosch or Ngk. And stay away from Motorcraft plugs!
