I recently read My Roommate Is A Vampire as well and it was just so, so sweet! 🥰

I just assumed that as romance is the first word in Romantasy, it is a romance with fantasy elements. A fantasy romance is a fantasy with romance elements. I think the lines may blur if there seems to be an equal mix of both. Other people may view it differently or I may be missing other reasons to categorise these books, it’s just what works for me. My Roommate is a Vampire I would categorise as an urban romantasy as it is set in modern day as opposed to a historical setting without todays modcons.

I think that's the idea, it's a romance with fantasy, instead of a fantasy with romance, but since the amount of what a "lot of romance" is differs from person to person, it's still a bit hard to pin down exactly what a "romantasy" is. Some people think just the presence of a romance storyline is a lot of romance 😂 I think my personal line is: does the plot still work without the romance woven into it? If no, it's a romance with fantasy, if yes, it's a fantasy with romance. But it's not foolproof 🫣 I do agree on My Roommate..., I guess it could both be called a romance with fantasy elements or an urban romantasy (nice term btw!)

How do you read so much? I always get distracted and I slow down but I love reading !

I think I just get really into the story? I'm not sure, I'm good at ignoring everything around me when reading, I guess 😂

everyone reads at their own pace! sometimes I can mange 3 books in a week, sometimes it takes me 2 weeks to get through just 1 book, no such thing as snail pace! 💗

My thing with Two Twisted Crowns was... I was very confused, curious? as to why we were switching POV, but I ended up enjoying these two people even more. and I enjoyed the first ones a lot. okay, maybe I enjoyed them equally. actually, until you said something I wouldn't categorize My Roommate is a Vampire as a fantasy at all. I'd have just called it a romance. or like a contemporary romance. I get that vampires aren't real but I didn't think the story was fantastical.

which PoVs in Two Twisted Crowns did you mean? The cousin and Ione? also, I think from a selling point of view you NEED to market My Roommate... as also a fantasy, as there are some readers who WILL NOT read anything with a hint of fantasy in it at all that said, it's definitely, to me, first and foremost a romance... just with a dash of fantasy 😂

yes, them. I was just expectding to keep on with Elspeth and whatsisface. and yes, I do agree with you about My Roommate, I'd just honestly never thought of it as fantasy, though I guess to me vampires and werewolves and such are more 'horror' maybe it could be a monster romance :p@@ImRosaYT
