I lived in German for 5 years and vacation over there. I don't think they did German cuisine any justice they should have had spaetzle and Jager schnitzel two things found in every German restaurant. I really love German food. Wish we had more.

I love how the manager took the time to explain all the various delicious foods that were part of this wonderful buffet. I am quite familiar with all of them as I have several German restaurants and a butcher's shop near where I lived in Philadelphia. If I ever Houston, I am going to this amazing place.

@@DavidSriracha I love Shady Maple's Smorgasbord. Their food is delicious and provides such a variety of Amish and Mennonite specialties to enjoy as well as regular food. I love their fried chicken, ham balls, baked corn, hot red beets among the items there. Their shoefly pie is awesome. I hope you and the family get a chance to visit there. You will have the time of your lives.

This seems like such a wholesome place. I love cabbage rolls and goulash! The chicken looked delicious as well. I'd be getting lots of sauerkraut and potato salad too. The Apfelkuchen (not sure if that's the right word or not, but it looks like an apple cake) looked tasty as well. Awesome video David.

At 14:21, the voiceover was great. Nice touch. The wait staff seem very nice and the food looks delicious. When I was stationed in Germany (Kaiserslautern), my favorite German foods were the schintzel sandwich and roast chicken. Believe it or not, the pizza was very good in Germany as well.

I have been there many times. The best was a few years ago when it looked like they hadn't redecorated since 1976, it was a time capsule. They updated a bit during lockdown. The music was great, you haven't heard anything till you hear an oompah band doing "Another Brick in the Wall" by Pink Floyd (no words but I caught the music). The food was consistently good, staff always nice. Their bread plate had zucchini bread so don't use the garlic butter on that one. Yes, the cabbage rolls are very good, my favorite too. They used to charge extra for the salad bar but that's not why I would go, straight to the meats. Highly recommend! You can get on their mailing list and get a free pretzel or strudel on your birthday and anniversary! Last time I was there, the buffet hadn't reopened so nice to see it has, that was the best part since you could get a little bit of everything and try it all.

DAVID- Long time subscriber here, we of German heritage use the noodle or potatoes as the "rice" to combine with the meat- it is DELICIOUS... I am glad you enjoyed the food, I miss my Grandmother's Red Cabbage- her recipe was the BEST!!!❤💯

If you are ever in Dallas you have to check out "Sweet Georgia Browns" in South Dallas OMG it is absolutely amazing, they give you enough food for 2 people their Beef Tips/Fried Chicken/Smothered Pork Chops are beyond tender and DELICIOUS!!! ALSO try TERRY BLACK'S BBQ in Deep Elum area of Dallas for Crazy BBQ.

David, that was an excellent video. Thanks for sharing your experiences with German and Austrian cuisine. I lived and worked (was stationed there with the USAF) in Bavaria in the early 1990's and really miss the food. That cheese spread you were tasting is called 'Obatzda' in Bavaria and is typically eaten in with bread or pretzels in the beer gardens. I didn't see any 'spaetzle' offered in the buffet. That's also served as 'Beilage' or side dish accompaniment to your Schnitzel entree or the different Wursts you tasted. Love your content. Brand new subscriber here. The Edelweiss Inn restaurant that was located in Vancouver Wa. The busty waitresses in the Beer Haus dresses. It was authentic With music and dance. The food was so good. Dad had been discharged from the Army and was stationed in Bad Tolz and Munich for some time, We became regulars at The Edelweiss. I would have the Hasenpfeffer stew with extra bacon. lite and flaky Fruit Strudel for the end.
