The trains in the Video
The video opens in St. Paul with a Railfan Special on the old Milwaukee Road mainline to Chicago.
The Special was pulled by a 'GP-20C' locomotive and an SD-40-2.
The GP-20C locos were GP-9s modified with Caterpillar 2000 HP four stroke diesel engines. These locomotives were tested on the BN and Soo Line. They were not successful on these two railroads, however the 'GP-20C's were then sold to the Twin City & Western and subsidiary Red River Valley & Western where they performed very well for many years.
After the Railfan Special, the video shows a number of Soo Line Trains on the former Milwaukee Road tracks - including:
a 'Ford Job'with two EMD MP-15s - run up to the Ford Plant in St. Paul
a Soo SD-40-2 / GP-40 running upgrade on the Shortline Hill (adjacent to Ayd Mill Road) and on over to the Midway Yard
