I can’t speak for everyone, but your “channel” is an integral part of keeping my sanity Mr. Sklar. No matter the horrific news I have to write about depresses me, I take solace in knowing I’m gonna be lifted up right here - whether it’s the music or stories. Thank you for everything, but particularly keeping me from abject despair.

And just the opposite for me. I found Leland and then Beato. Working from home has infinitely increased this music lovers knowledge about music!
Who is the unsung hero in a band? Right: the bassist. And who is the unsung hero on a record? Right: the studio musician. Check this legend.

The BASS and the DRUMS. They are joined at the hip.....or should be. The great ones are! (cue in Phil Collins)
There’s a reason he’s the most recorded bass player ever, he adds to the songs and makes everybody around him sound better. Riffs are always tasteful and perfectly timed. Amazing talent.

I couldn't agree more with you. I believe the reason is because he is a sincere good man. He did anything to support the singer/ musician he worked with heard better.
Watching and enjoying from Zimbabwe, good to see the master of his craft at work.

Your daily posts are like having a friend call each day just to check in...THX!
You have played with some of the greatest artist like Phil Collins and James Taylor. I love many of the songs you played bass on. Thank you
That is really a channel to people's hearts and souls, a current to cure and feed them in these difficult times. May you be blessed for such a humanitarian activity, Mr. Sklar! 🙏
One of my favourite tracks from Phil Collins As a father the lyrics mean a lot to me and love, absolutely love the intro and ending of the song with that deep guitar sound.
Bass Masterpiece, I listened with 9 years this song, amazing... thanks..
Dear Leland, to hear and see you say "Thanks to all the people who are coming to see my channel..." is amazing because when I read hundreds of comments I understand you are a kind of "mental lifeline " in those dark days... So THANKS THANKS THANKS for all that you do 🙏 France salute you

My three year old grandson picked one of your videos out of my youtube page. Since then he wants to be a bass player (he practices on his ukulele). He wants to know why you don't sing and what other instruments you play. I watch music videos with him often, he loves it. So thanks to you for doing this.

And just when I thought it couldn't get any better, you come around and casually present your AMAZING drawing talent! And the song is just beautiful - GREAT swell on that deep note at the end, too! Thank you again for lighting up these strange times, Lee.
Hi Lee, happy Sunday, thank goodness for KZread:). This is all good review and rehearsal for you to keep up on your chops. When it's time to get back out there doing what you do best, (and that day will come), all the motor/muscle memory will be there for you:) As always, thanks for your time, so appreciated!
Every time I think I can't be more amazed by Leland Sklar's talent...!
Phil is a genius in so many ways. Thanks for the song Lee, stuff like this sheds light in places where there was once none.
That is the last and the best But Seriously's song! Thanks, Leland!
You're welcome. Like you, most of us have also been denied doing something that was a major part of our lives before COVID-19. Your channel and hearing from you gives us something to look forward to every day.
always a must watch every day :-)
OMG it all just came to me when I noticed the awesome detail of Leland's pencil drawings! Leland Sklar is the Bob Ross of Bass ! ! Everyone loves Bob Ross for his ease and coolness creating masterpieces! Same with Lelend ! Bob Ross just like Leland is very sharing with his knowledge ! Hmmm I may have something here. Thank you for sharing your awesome art Leland. I am interested in purchasing your artwork. Big fan from the Detroit area, Peace

Incredible closing song for the album! ❤️🎶🎧
Lee, I encourage you to continue along this path while you can. I don't have to tell you how much every little thing you do affects more people than you will ever know. Many who benefit today won't even realize it until after "normal" returns and we suffer another setback of sorts, and then the memories you've both shared from your past and created here on your "Channel" come back to remind us that our past and present can indeed determine our future. You had, and have, a bigger positive effect on that for thousands of people around the world! Thank you my brother...from all of us!

This one of those a door closes a window opens situations. We are stuck inside I have been able to get a glimpse into your world and see what makes one of my favorite musicians tick! Have been able to discover many more talented musicians and new music as well!
Good morning Leland! 🔥👊 I think Phil’s lucky to have you in his band, a warm genuine person and a tremendous artist in your own right! The best want to play with the best, no brainer! I look forward to your posts everyday as much as you look forward to posting them, thank you, Leland! Enjoy the rest of your day! 🔥👏🙏
We live in Indiana and have been wanting to take our family on a Western vacation. My wife and I took our four kids on a 17 day road trip around the western United States to see some of the national parks. We have family in LA and stayed with them for a couple of days just a few days ago. I found out they live 10 minutes South of you so we stopped by and had my picture taken by your front gate. It was fun to see your neighborhood. Love your channel. I've seen you live a number of times most notably with James Taylor in the 80's. Always loved your style.
Amazing ! Thanks for sharing❤️ hugs from Tel Aviv Israel
That is exactly what my head Injury did to me! I was in the hospital for 8 months after an accident I was in. I felt exactly like you! I could not wait to get out of the hospital so I could do something again!!!
I used to listen to James Taylor Albums incessantly during my college years in the middle 70’s to early 80’s, in particular, those impeccable bass lines of Leland Sklar. Jame’s writing and playing skills are phenomenal but it’s Leland Sklar’s bass lines that are the heart and soul of that music. I can’t imagine a James Taylor song without Leland Sklar’s masterful touch. James & Leland are indistinguishable and inseparable! Thank you, Leland, your musicality breathes a heartbeat into every song.🍎
Your love of music beams from your inner soul. One of my favorite songs, very deep meaning. Watching you play the bass brings a smile on my face from ear to ear. Thank you!!!
Damn, those drawings! The art thief in me would grab number three. The art collector is on a budget.
I watch as often as possible, it's my pleasure. I do, however look for response on occasion, maybe one day! Thanks for the great stories....
Thanks for the thanks. Right back atcha. I’ve told all my brethren about this channel and we look forward to your daily offering. You make a positive difference and bring a smile. I look forward to my daily hit of LSD. “Lee Sklar Discourse”. As you say, it’s a trip. All the best kind sir. Wishing you and yours all the best and to stay safe. 😷😷😷
Phil Collins THE BEST.
I wish you could hear me clapping and cheering, despite me being in Europe. That performance blew me away. First your kind words, then the slow intro and next the bass wizardry. You made my evening!👏👏👏👏
What an outstanding bass part!!!!!! That was amazing. I never get tired of watching you play and I always look forward to the stories. Hope you had a good day. Can't wait for Wednesday and the Clubhouse!!! Looking forward to the swag too!!! Take care friend!
THANK YOU LEE! You have made this pancedemic so much easier and fun, finding out about all the wonderful music you have been involved with, and all the stories, that makes the difference. I think of myself as a guy who has pretty good control of many different music styles, but you have given me alot more really good songs to add to my reagular listening, and when it also comes with a story it makes a good song even better Thank you!
Your videos are helping me figure out better bass lines on my own recordings. Nowhere as good as you by a long shot, but better than they otherwise would have been. I am grasshopper, you are my sage.

All of his lines are so tasty and just right on the money for what the song needs! How Sweet It Is and Your Smiling Face are master classes on this.
Leland, actually the success of this "channel" is completely due to you, your strength in reinventing yourself. There are millions of "channels" on YT, and many other social media venues and the fact YOUR channel stands out is not due to us, but due to you. You set the pace, you set the environment, you chose the topic, the layout of every episode. Your story telling, the way you comment about your colleagues, the kindness you exude makes these videos a moment of quiet enjoyment. Not many are capable of converting to a new job in a matter of a week or two.
One of my favourites on the But Seriously album, great bass line! As you say about Phil, “damn, he’s good!”
One my favourite Phil Collins tunes and I've always loved that bass line, awesome thanks Leland.
You should not be thanking your viewers, WE should be thanking you for sharing your life, your internationally recognised contribution to all genres of music, unchallenged skills and knowledge, and your philosophies. 👍👍🇭🇲
One of Phil's rare songs that doesn't build to a climax. Another note to his writing is he is one of the best pop music "bridge" writers ever. This song has one hell of a bridge. I agree with Ron....whenever I want to chill out, I'll turn on your channel and you bring me back to center! Thank you for opening your studio and world to us!
I am so glad you are here and embracing it. I hear of too many artists still fighting this medium. I’m thankful for Phil being so coool to let you play his stuff unedited. God bless!
Yes Phil had lots of choices I’m sure, but I think he picked the best Bass Musician in You. And your Art work is amazing!
Love this guy!! 08:39 he really ramps up the playing and this I love as he is at one with the guitar and this is no easy feat and shows his talent and boy do my ears love it!!!!
Get t shirts with a drawing of the Sklar visage. I would buy one!!
I really like this song , I never understood why is no more famous
It is very important to us as well. I had hoped to do some performing with various groups locally after my retirement from another profession. Unfortunately, that is not possible at this time. Fortunately, I have kept up my music by daily practice and continued lessons with major local musician. I continue to practice and learn new stuff and hopefully this will continue until I am out. It is the only thing that keeps me sane and willing to go on. Glad I have your daily commentary to look forward to! Thank you!
Thank you for these videos. It takes a lot of class to share like you do.
You captured the faces so beautifully in the drawing of the band. I can almost hear the way they'd be talking in between sets, their personalities just jump off the page.
Thanks for sharing this video Lee, I have been a huge fan of Phils for 40 years he truly is an a exceptional artist 😀👍

Everyday enjoy your bass line Lee...👍👍👍make me happy
Such a treat watching Lee play one of my favourite bass grooves I always make out when listening.
Whenever I decide to start playing bass again my goal is to learn this song. It used to make me sob as a child, so much so that I couldn’t listen to it. I had to get through that again recently as an adult so I could enjoy it without the inexplicable emotion. This song will be a beautiful haunting melody for me as long as I live. It’s just so powerful.
I shared in messenger with you a video of my nephew playing at the Montréal international jazz festival. When I told him that I did that he lost his mind... How do you know him he asked. I watch his KZread channel I said. I'm so proud of him that I share his music with everyone who will listen. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and knowledge with us mear mortals.

In the end we are all mortals and that is what I love about this. WE are the common denominator.
Your channel has been a blessing for us too . ...I don't care if you're playing bass , working in your garden or telling your fantastic stories . You are just an incredible human being with lots of talents to share and I thank you for that.
I love that Phil, who gets so much hate from the cool kids, gets so much respect from musicians. To me, he'll always be a drummer first and foremost, but starting writing and singing lead so late on, and to turn out to be so damn good at it (whatever the cool kids say), still has me shaking my head.
Thank you, Lee. Look forward to watching you every day. You are the equivalent of "Mr. Rogers" therapy for adults. It's always a beautiful day in your neighborhood. Thank you for letting me be your neighbor!
Thank you for being here. As I and so many others have said, your channel is something we look forward to doing every day, hanging with Leland. Makes me happy to hear it does good for you, and I look forward to seeing what you bring in the future. Stay happy and healthy.
Beautiful artwork, Lee! So many artists are multi-faceted. So many actors, singers and musicians paint and draw seriously with great skill and talent. Thank YOU for your channel. Like so many folks, during this pandemic my KZread subscriptions have increased exponentially. Yours is a favorite!
Really like the artwork and look forward to seeing more! You mentioned a while back that you had once considered becoming a medical illustrator. I for one am glad you chose the path you did! As it turned out, you became the Frank Netter of the electric bass. Your body of work is in the same class as his. Thanks again for these daily gatherings and all that you share.
Just as you are thankful for your virtual audience, I am thankful for my virtual friendship with you and how you've positively broadened my knowledge of so many people, places and things. The intimacy of your 'channel' you are a master of creating; channelling your soul, your heart and your wonderfulness, softening the edges of a difficult world out there. Thank you for connecting. You are needed and cherished.
Lee, Your “Channel” is the best channel out there. I’ve never ever watched KZread sessions on a daily basis like I’ve watched your’s. Everyday I look forward to your daily posting. Keep them coming! Take care!

I have been suicidal many times these last few months and your channel has literally kept me connected and helped me step back from the edge a number of times. Have to say Lee, I find this is one of your best arrangements to the many tunes you've played us since we started following a couple of months ago. Sheer class and skill!!! Thank you.
A brilliant song from a brilliant album. Three of my favourite artists are JT, Phil Collins and Jackson Browne, so your bassplaying has been a big part of my life Lee. Love your chanel.
Mr Sklar. Sending you all the love from my family, fellow Norwegians and Moi. Bearhugs, Tusen Takk -
amazing Lee!!......advice to those listening on phone....put a pair of Bose or equally as good head phones on and experience these posts in a whole other level. Lee's playing is magnified 10 times. This was awesome today. Thank you Lee. Enjoy everyone.
Been a Phil fan since seeing the Live at Perkins Palace video (as in a video cassette) when I was 11. Most of my lifelong Phil favourites are from Face Value and HIMBG. But I remember buying But Seriously at Our Price Records, the day it came out - and while all 12 songs resonated in different ways, Find A Way To My Heart became one of my instant favourites. And still is. It's nearly up there with Take Me Home as the perfect album bookend... Hearing Leland play it made me smile on a v rough day...
Thanks so much I just went 60 over this lock down. I have always played the drums/percussion. Love you brother
Leland Sklar! Great comments at the start of this video. If you only knew how much I look forward to these videos, every weekday especially. I am an attorney and musician. I get a one hour lunch. I rush home (15 minutes both ways) to watch these videos. It's often the highlight of my day!
Leland just wanted to say thank you for doing all you do. You don't have to do this channel for us but you do it and it's much appreciated.👍
Makes it look so easy. I watch these videos and think back to some of the shows I have seen live with 100000 watts of power and the auditorium or stadiums shaking with bass. Such great memories. Excellent song!
Love this from day one just to hear the basslines. Played this song 100 times and spolied the tape in 1998. My favourite always!
My husband and I danced to all of this music. So nice to know you played, you kept our feet moving.
Thank you. You have done so much in helping maintain my sanity in these times. The videos and stories, trying to find tabs of your bass lines, and figuring out Southern Cross have been great fun. Being able to hang in the clubhouse... man I'm running out of superlatives
Unbelievable. How have I only just found these videos. What a talent and what a top man too
You'll be out doing what you do again...until then, we are benefiting so much from this channel..can't thank you enough. I love when you reflect on and play along with Mr. Collins. I knew you had to have some moves being the bassman you are, and just verified it a few minutes ago. EVERYONE...great video of Mr. Sklar's skills, and moves. I had a really rough week, but your pair of soulfully deep Phil Collins songs help sooth and reconnect with my own passion and purpose. This musical creativity is a gift being shared to those with open hearts. Thank you, Leland.
Grateful to be your “immediate family” ! Thank you for this channel and the priceless musical gems and stories you are generously providing us with 🙏
There is a whole slew of us who have played or sung all of our lives and have never gotten the gig opportunity we always thought we would have just because we couldn’t figure out how or just couldn’t walk off from life and go across country...or didn’t believe we could, anyway. This has connected us all. Maybe this will be the thing that helps us all figure out either how to do it or that we could have all along. Really. For a lot of us very talented musicians, it’s been just the mental or physical block of “HOW”, when things are so different in our generation.
Thanks Mr Sklar for keeping my sanity during this hard times we've been passing thru. After meditating before sleeping, your base notes remove a bolder from my soul to finally face another day. Thanks from Brazil.
One of my favorite Phil Collins tunes and there is also a lot more he made. Thank you Lee.👍👍🎵👍👍 And always stay safe my friend.
