The Prophet’s (ص) wives being forbidden to marry any men after him prevents their future husbands from gaining unwarranted special status’s of their own and gaining power or authority among the ummah in a way. If a man married one of The Prophet’s (ص) wives he could be viewed among the people as and authority figure since he’s married to a woman with high status. This also gives said man an opportunity to easily fabricate Hadiths or create bidah within the deen for his own personal gain and he would be believed among people because he’s married to a woman who was married to The Prophet (ص), a woman who was constantly with our Prophet (ص) Forbidding The wives of The Prophet (ص) from marrying after him was clearly a way to stop innovation.

    That's a very logical point.

For those who have some religious background and wonder how come the prophet could have that many wives, they may consider asking the question about prophet Sulaiman a,s . How many wives did prophet Sulaiman have ! Prophet Sulaiman was not a messenger by the way. Was he !?

Another argument is that even if we have the best of intentions, we have limited ability. So most men can’t judge justly between more than 4 and in most cases, even less

The question cannot be answered without assuming we know what Allah swt had in mind. So, we can only guess or explain it in some form of rationalization. But admittedly, being defensive about it is disturbing...it may cause doubt, except we beilieve Allah swt loved his Messenger s above all others.

Each wife had her room. Plus, the same way all Muslim widows were taken care by the treasury.

For that question- I would ask people: - please show me from the Quran: how many wives did the Prophet (pbuh) have ? It appears to me that those hearsay narrations about his wives are are all daif/zaeef Like this Imam is explaining at 13:10

@@Thaqlain Who decides what is important? Preachers nowadays Or Quran?? If it’s not in the Quran then it’s NOT as important as anyone wants to make it seem. READ the Quran and VERIFY Coz Quran is the Furqan meaning the Criteria to Judge between the right and wrong Coz Quran is ‘ehsan Tafseer’, and it is fully detailed - the Almighty Allah could have given more details - even if oceans were ink it would not be enough References -- //Quran 25.33 And they do not come to you with an example [i.e., argument] except that We bring you bil’Haq wa ehsan TAFSEER (the truth and the best explanation). // //Quran 6. 114 "Then is it other than Allāh I should seek as judge while it is He who has revealed to you the Book explained in DETAIL?" And those to whom We gave the Scripture know that it is sent down from your Lord in truth, so never be among the doubters. 6.115. And the word of your Lord has been FULFILLED in truth and in justice. None can alter His words, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing.// -- Nowadays these Sect/Firqa preachers have promoted their Firqa ideology to keep the masses dependent and collect charity - notice they quote very little from the Quran and move on sideways to other explanations coz they say Quran is difficult so they have these easy narratives (according to them) Refer //Quran 54.17 And We have indeed made the Qur'an EASY to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? // Whatever is in the Book is straightforward and simple- if something isn’t there then it is NOT as important as these Sectarians told us (by repeating many times things don’t become the truth) Please Be careful of the Sectarian divisions //Quran 6.159 Indeed, those who have divided their religion and become sects - YOU ARE NOT WITH THEM in anything. Their affair is only to Allāh; then He will inform them about what they used to do. // It’s ok if you delete my comment Unto you is your belief , Salaam/Peace

I think the arguments here are weak it's possible for prophet or another person to have more than 4 wives before God send the law that forbid it but after receiving the law prophet was allowed to keep wives that he had at that time

There is no evidence of: 1) Prophet had more than 4 wives before establishing this law 2) Any companion had more than 4 wives.
