Too many people underestimate what it means to be a true follower of Christ. They enjoy the community and newfound freedom, but often miss the call to prepare their hearts and minds for suffering. This lack of preparation fuels cultural Christianity, where people identify as Christian but live little different from the world around them. They fail to count the cost and cherry-pick the feel-good parts of the message.
This isn't new. In the Bible, Peter addressed believers facing similar challenges. He knew it was easy to embrace God's grace while overlooking the hardships that come with following Christ. Peter urged them to look to Jesus' suffering and adopt His unwavering resolve.
Peter also addressed common concerns. He assured them that everyone faces God's judgment, and that the good news extends even to those who died before Jesus. Ultimately, Peter coached these believers to take a deep breath and prepare for whatever may come, just like Jesus.

Am I willing to be a Stephen? It’s not only about dying, are we prepared to be tortured?? And am I prepared to watch my loved ones be tortured??
