Thank you and I am an old Hippy who came to Thailand from Boulder, Colorado, U.S. 24 years ago and got my first house on Ko Samui and still own it. My Thai wife wanted to move to Nakhon Sawan and now I have two houses, one for us and one for her Mother(who is now 85) and her son, so I bought 3 houses altogether in Thailand. We are happy living here and live in a quiet Thai Village pretty far from the big town of Nakhon Sawan but close enough to get there in a hurry. It is cloudy here also but no rain yet. Peace, and Love I Like to watch your KZread because I don't do any at all, Thank you!!!✌❤☮🌧 p.s. I am 66 years old and my pretty wife is 54. I don't look 66 at all but much younger, plus our village looks really nice no dirt roads and messy surroundings like Chris's place but he owns a little farm and a lot of acres which is much better than where I live. New Zealand would be a cool place to live but I love Thailand and will never go back to the U.S. ever. Plus with the awful Republicans who are paid off by the N.R.A. and won't get rid of their military assault rifles that lead to mass shootings every week and I think there were four just last week it is god awful. So here I STAY IN A BEAUTIFUL BUDDHIST country!!! Peace again after my rant, HAha Chris is a very cool guy and I still have long hair in a ponytail at 66. I didn't go to his places but did hitchhike throughout America in the early 70s and did travel throughout most of Europe and finally ended up in Ko Samui until I met my stunning wife in 2011 and stayed in Ko Samui in 1999 until 2014 when we left for Nakhon Sawan where I have stayed since and yes have a Mango tree and beautiful flowering big trees we grew and plenty of flowers, lovely! A long rant that is for sure, Thanks for reading.

As long as you find the right partner and don't need all the crap that many westerners see as essential, living in the third world makes a lot more sense than trying to choose between food and warmth.

Yes extra nitrogen in the soil is the key. What most people don't understand(especially farmers) is nitrogen is very conmen and there are many ways to bring it into you soil. Buying it is a waste of money.

I am using 13s road on a weekly basis from Thabok to Vientiane, electric scooters are the worst, they are slow and unstable. (But at least not as wide as the tekteks with their wooden carriage sometimes carrying 15-20 people or 4-5 cows, only with a headlamp on the driver at night) The road are now a lot better around us (starting from a little after Ban Hai, soon up to almost Paksan), but took 2 year to replace the old one ... meanwhile there were no solid road to use ... If you ever plan to use this road, avoid leaving 13s from Vientiane: - From 16:00 to 19:00 -Before long weekends, special holidays Also try not to use it at night, various animals (Dogs, Cows, Buffaloes, Goats, etc.) as well as unlit vehicles ranging from bicycles to 40T trucks without any tail lights ... Topped with the pleasure to allow those sleeper buses to pass in your own lane regardless your presence ... So you better just pull over if you see them coming towards You ...

Chris has lived an interesting life. I spent 1 month in Myanmar, just before Covid hit, and I can confirm that English is not widely spoken. Lao and Myanmar are very similar in my opinion.

  • @chrisperkins7331

Well yes in many ways, however the generals in Myanmar could learn a thing or two from the Lao generals regarding maintaining power without using violence. In Lao you rarely see the army and the police don't routinely carry any weapon.

Hi Todd,,that was a quick trip down "on the hippie trail,,head full of zombies " lol Chris has lived a full and interesting life. Interesting to hear his comments about hash. Last time I smoked hash was at work in a mine in about may of 79. I was refueling carpool cars that day and once we smoked I never did anything but ride around for the rest of the day. I dont miss smoking weed,,its made me feel like a retarded alzheimers victim,,but the hash I did enjoy and to this day I kinda miss it. 😱 I do enjoy hearing about life on the trail in the 60s and 70s. Have to laugh at and make fun of people,,vloggers,, that rave about the hippie trail and bitch about the amenities the resort doesnt have,,or the wifi. Kind of silly stupid! Thanks for interviewing Chris. Hope pt.2 is as interesting. Ttyl,,,Marlon
