Disagree. She had the natural talent and it was nutured properly. People dont get associates at 10 unless they were born with intelligence level way above average. It is false to assume that if every parent homeschooled their kids, they would be going to college at 10. This is one unique situation, hardly proof that homeschooling work. You would need to include all homeschooled kids in your analysis

Because if this were a negative story, someone would say something about that’s how “they all are.” Let us celebrate when we see people who look like us flourishing and excelling. It doesn’t take away from anyone else. If you have a problem with that, it’s a you problem. If it were an Italian girl and someone said “proud Italian”, I would not be offended. The problem is white isn’t a culture. Racism stole our identities and made Black a culture and that’s what we have, so we celebrate who we are.

If they wouldn’t have shown her face or say she was Black, y’all would have assumed she was white. I don’t expect you to understand, because you all have always been shown in a good lite. For example, we were taught about White folks accomplishments/achievements; however, schools didn’t teach that Blacks had accomplished or contributed anything to this country. It’s time to finally learn about our achievements/ contributions to the country, especially since the foundation of this country was built 😢through Slavery. As Black Slavery put the US on the global map and it became the largest industrial nation before the immigrants arrived. I wonder did you know that.

But applauding a black girl for an achievement isn't exacerbating division. Those exacerbating division are the tens of millions of white racists who simply refuse to put their hate aside.

In every movie, tv show, fashion magazine, nearly every print ad and commercial, the white girl is always the symbol of beauty. You can't grow up in the US without being inundated by the message that "White is Beaufitul."

Spotlight her so she can be an inspiration to our community. Too many of our brilliant ones stay in the shadows.

My son was in 10th grade, and after a conference was allowed to take a college course in college. But was told that he will not be allowed to graduate until he finished H.S. He graduated community college first, then high school. Finished his master by 21.

Home schooled kids seem to be either exceptionally well educated or the opposite of that. I went to a fishing lodge on this island in Alaska. The kids of the owners were home schooled. They were in their early teens and sounded like college graduates. On the other hand, I met home schooled kids who really would've benefitted from going to regular school.
