Yes, the end harmony is good, but for me my favorite part of this song is Ted at 1:23. The triplets in the pit, the sort of 'overtaking' of the melody by Clyde, the gliss in "down." I'd love to be in this pit.

@@m_of_greengables I know, and that is a type of play. If it's got a story, it's categorized as a play. A musical is a play where song & dance is used to progress the story. Also, often when people refer to the 'play' of a musical, they're talking about the staging, not just the song.

I've been wondering for a long time, does Clyde legitimately love Bonnie? Could be, but I'm not sure if he loves her, or if he's just a bad boy.

+Sandro Swen I think it's definitely lust in the beginning and it grows into love. By the song "Bonnie" he's head over heels. That being said, I think he's deadset in making sure he makes a name for himself. He doesn't want to live the life his parents lived. He won't let anyone get in the way of his dreams.

+Jeffrey Tierney i agree. I think, for him, it's a matter of "I genuinely love you but we're doing what I wanna do; I don't want to ditch you but I will if I have to"

I think he legitimately loved her but yet he manipulated her to get into his life of crime.

By all accounts, the real Bonnie and Clyde hit it off right away upon meeting at age 19 and 20, respectively. Her older brother (Hubert but called "Buster") said, "When those two saw each other, you could see the sparks fly right there." Furthermore, the musical depicts Bonnie wanting to leave after Clyde kills that policeman, and he pretty much manipulates her into staying, but in reality Bonnie chose to stay of her own free will, despite pleas from her mother and others to give herself up. Even Clyde tried to get her to save herself, but she wouldn't listen. She knew that Clyde would be killed eventually, and she wanted to die with him. When Clyde was arrested shortly after they met, she became hysterical and near suicidal. This may be why Clyde was able to convince Bonnie -- a law-abiding, former straight-A student -- to smuggle a gun into him, which she did willingly.

No, he actually was doing Newsies and Bonnie & Clyde at the same time! Then it went to Broadway but it did not last really long at all.

No, he did BONNIE AND CLYDE first, which opened on Broadway in December 2011; NEWSIES opened in March 2012. However, had B&C not flopped (it closed after four weeks), then Jordan wouldn't have been able to do NEWSIES. So I suppose it was a blessing in disguise, since NEWSIES earned him his first Tony Award.

musicaltheatergeek79 he was nominated for a Tony for Newsies but lost to the guy who played in Once, I can't remember his name. It was pretty stiff competition too because Norm Lewis was also nominated that year too.
