Bocchi has social anxiety but she still really enjoys being a part of the band and wants to hang out with the band members, just finds it hard to talk to them due to her social anxiety. On the contrary, Ryou willingly goes out of her way to stay away from socializing even though she has no trouble doing so.

@@aoni8254 Wasn't there a scene in Bocchi's mind where she goes "oh, she's an introvert like me!" and then she's like "wait, no, she's a LONER! She wants to be alone!"? And you seem to be getting something wrong. Introverts aren't defined by a desire to be alone, like what you're saying about Ryou. Introverts have their energy depleted by being in company of others, and recharge it by being alone. That doesn't mean they don't like company, just that they need time alone to recharge their batteries. For Ryou, that's a personal choice. For introverts, it isn't.

@@tarael86 So the issue with terms like introvert and antisocial is that they're kind of mixed together in Japanese. The term 陽キャ (you-kya) and 陰キャ (in-kya) are terms that refer mainly to how outgoing/cheerful and how reserved/gloomy someone is. Think of 陽キャ as the super popular kid in class who's always the moodmaker wherever they go, and think of 陰キャ as the kid in class who sits in the corner and acts kind of depressed. For example, Ikuyo is without a 陽キャ because she's the most outgoing and cheerful of the bunch. She's also quite popular at school. On the other hand, Ryou is definitely more of a cool character (kuudere) and isn't exactly the super cheerful type. Although Ryou does burst into otaku mode and talk about a bunch of rock and guitar stuff, she usually isn't frolicking around with a smile all the time. All of the Bocchi fans in Japan would agree that Ryou is an 陰キャ and not a 陽キャ. We also can't forget about the term "antisocial". I checked the scene you were referring to, and yeah Bocchi realizes that Ryou doesn't have an issue with making friends but rather just prefers to be alone. The thing is antisocial kind of infers that the person actively dislikes social interactions. I don't think Ryou hates interacting with people, but she does prefer to spend time alone. As for whether or not she's an extrovert or introvert, I think she leans towards introvert. Tbh I think it's more like a gauge/scale where you're a certain percent extrovert and introvert, so I would say Ryou has a higher % of being an introvert. A lot of people also disagree on what extroverts and introverts are, and languages are also evolving so who knows. Sorry for the long comment, but I hope it clears it up a little

I love her VA so much, it takes an amazing talent to deliver deadpan lines this good

Bocchi isn't JUSt an introvert though, she literally displays extreme levels of social anxiety. Which is beyond, She doesn't even choose to be alone, but wants to seek out more extroverted things, which isn't something introverts would do, the introvert idea is literally just a mistranslation due to how close introvert/scoial anxiety in japanese are close to eachother in terms of how they are written.
