WELL DONE!
Recently I made a career transition into IT and extensively used Richard's videos to prepare for interviews. I landed two interviews, one with the government and the other with one of the largest software companies in North America. Both organizations conducted three rounds of interviews and I made through them all. Around 70% of the questions throughout the recruitment process were behavioural questions. And Richard provides invaluable resources to prepare well for many different scenarios. Early this week, I got two back to back offers from both organizations. I am still digesting the great news. What a great start of 2022. God Bless You and Your Family, Richard! Thank You!!!

WELL DONE
English is not my first language, I still speak slow, and I settled in an English speaking country less than a year ago. Here, I just got a job in a skilled position, on IT industry. I followed your advices and especially the confidence with which you express yourself when talking. They didn't care about my broken speaking, they cared about my abilities and my confidence when answered their questions... I learned from you Richard!

Thanks so much for all the resources and videos. I'm currently in uni and it has helped me go from having never done a proper formal interview, to receiving offers for not only a casual job, but also a few internships at Big 4 firms. Thanks again!

Would you be able to make a video on how to handle being overlooked for a promotion? I watched loads of your videos, prepared incredibly well, and earlier this week interviewed for a position I held previously for 2 years with great success. I had to accept a lower position when we fired 90% of our staff during covid. The interview went flawlessly, I could tell they were impressed with my enthusiasm and knowledge of the role, however two people were chose over me from a small pool who did not have previous experience in the role.

Hi Richard, I am planning to take lesson plans during an interview. I am gonna say "During my student teaching, I learned to create lesson plans that caters all the student." And after I say this is it fine to give them my printed lesson plans? Another question is when they ask "Describe how typical lesson plan looks like"? Is it fine to refer from previous lesson plan which I showed to them or I have to answer without looking at lesson plan from the back of my head? Thanks a bunch

I hope this helps for your interview: kzread.info/dash/bejne/dpyLpLCbp9Lfcdo.html
I need advice on this. I am grossly underpaid (£21k pa with 20+years experience. I should be on at least £40k) Upper management is incompetent and refuse to pay needed bills. Bills like trash collection, pest control, phone lines, building lease. Etc. So we’re often have to chase up why something is wrong and the common joke is we haven’t paid the bill. Overtime pay you have to argue for over a few months before they pay up and forget expenses that at not prior arraigned. I feel segregated from my colleges. Anything I say or advised is often ignored. Anything I try to do for improvement or self growth is shutdown or dismantled. Any idea I come up with. No matter how good is immediately shot down. Simply because it was not their idea. I feel that this department is being abandoned as we get zero funding or support from the company as a whole. So my question is. When they ask at an interview why do you want to leave my current job. What should I say? I want more money, Bosses are incompetent, College don’t respect me. No hopes and dreams. If I stay here then I’ll be dead in less than a year. All seems to me like something I shouldn’t say and would just come off as whiny. And no one will want to higher you based on these excuses. Also the serious underpayment. £21k a year simply is not enough to live on. But if it’s tell people that then I’ll be permanently put into that bracket.

It all seems quite negative to me and i don't think saying any of those things will help you get hired (that's just my opinion). It sounds like you are ready for a fresh challenge with a forward-thinking company where you will be supported in your role by the managers and where you can collaborate with ambitious and hungry co-workers who want to achieve great things? If that's the case, this is how I would answer it: "I want to leave my job because I am ready for a fresh challenge with a forward-thinking company where I will be supported in my role by the managers, rewarded for my hard work, and where I can collaborate with ambitious and hungry co-workers who want to achieve great things."

Nice! 😊 What did you think of the tips?
I'm in the company I love. I do not see myself going on interviews in the near future. That said... your questions holds value... about 10% when I interview folks, I test subject matter knowledge. This is the most important part. We are software developers. 1.) Can you code? 2.) can you solve problems? 3.) what is your process when you do not know. So I start with a simple coding problem. This problem tie into some theory. During the theory stage, I try to find weakness. When I find it, I dig into that area to ascertain how you solve unknown problems. If you answer "I don't know" you are heading to the end of interview. Try, and I will guide you with tips. Show me you want to solve the problem I created.
