That is House Allowance. The amount given is 8000. Deduction of House Allowance is the least of: a) 20% of salary b) Actual amt (8000) c) 5000 amt default Here 20% of salary is > 8000 actual amt 8000 actual amt is > 5000 Therefore, the deduction of Allowance here is House Allowance deduction Rs 5000, which is the least of a, b, c

in point no : 6 of working notes (under cal of allowance u/s 16 ii{c} ) how'd u got 5000 ma'am it is not mentioned in the question !
