If you have a Narrowboat in the areas where Adam works. It might pay you to put his contact details in your diary, in case you need a Sign Writer in the future! His contact details are in the video description above!
I started work with a Civil Engineering Contractor back in the 1960s and all their trucks cranes and sites name boards were sign written, it was fascinating to watch the guy work. The sign writer would come to site and he drove a three wheeler van based on an old motorcycle that was an event on it's own. One of the 7ton trucks I drove has been restored and finished in the company's livery, it looks great. You might be able to find it on KZread. Chas Brand & Sons Ltd. The truck was an ERF built late 50s early 60s ?? She was a beast to drive. The company built most of the Victoria Line tube. It was great Adam let you film him working and taking the time to explain his craft. Another memory just came to mind, My Uncle had the job of painting the gold lines on limos and other high class cars. He told me the brush hairs were about 4inches long and he would draw the brush through the paint on a pallet. Stay safe mate and thanks for posting.

It was great to film Adam. It made me wish that I would have done something like that when I left school. I have seen some pictures of a restored Tractor that he painted up which was impressive! Look after yourself Vince.

Hey thanks Vince, very interesting. I had an english teacher (Mr Spillman) at school who taught us writing skills and part of that was sign writing. He taught us how to do the shadows to make the words stand out. I enjoyed watching Adam, it brought back memories. Lots of love Vince. XXX

Very interesting, and something not shown on most narrowboat vlogs, well done. By the way the simple way to remember your port from your starboard is Port and Left have 4 letters, and Starboard and Right have the most letters. Seemed to have worked to teach young sailors their direction aboard ships.

He is very exacting, isn't he? I have always wondered where most boat names come from. Maybe that is a silly question like where do children's names come from? Interesting video and it was interesting to see him measure the depth of the shadow. I have never done that. Not that I am a sign writer or anything. Lettering on a much smaller scale. If the video is not mirrored, then you were correct in saying that he had started on the starboard side last. Left and port are both 4 letter words. That's the best way I know to remember. Nice video! Thanks!!

Argh.. Nice vlog..But why can't the English teach their children how to speak? ( G. Bernard Shaw ) If it can be counted..to make it smaller..the word is "fewer". As in fewer coats of paint.. If it cant be counted..to make it smaller..the word is "less". As in less noise or distraction on the towpath. Love the vlog... What a rare and delightful craftsman. It would be sad to lose these cherished skills.

@@NarrowboatCruisingLifestyle So...sadly as an old grump...I have to be polemic about it. Whilst as a North Londoner I recognise, adore, share and support your way of speaking; but bad usage is still bad usage. How we use and cherish the language of Shakespeare, Chaucer and Milton is about relishing the quintessential delight in our magnificent heritage and the precision of our global language. How we articulate ourselves through our pronunciation and dialect word choice is to cherish our birthright and birthplace lexicon. To use English poorly is just scabrous...or 'scabby' as my great-grandad might have said. Still love the adventures of Aitch on the waterways of Norf east Lundin.
