16-Year-Old Red Gerard's Ultimate Backyard Snowboarding Park | Insight
Ойын-сауық
Perhaps the most versatile snowboarder his age and a constant combination of positivity and good times, Red’s stigma as a contest kid has not yet been shaken, but his snowboarding outside the judged realm demonstrates competition is but one outlet for a large bundle of energy in a compact package.
Red is one of seven Gerard kids, and thanks in part to good-natured and unrelenting ridicule from a few of his brothers, the attitude of this rising star has remained unusually humble, while the influence from these same senior siblings has progressed his snowboarding to include facets beyond those of many of his peers.
His house in Summit County, Colorado, is home to a backyard park, complete with a rope tow powered by a well-worn 50cc dirt bike. Here, he dials in technical rail tricks on hand-crafted lips and perfects progressive double corks on the jump lines down the road at Breckenridge.
At 16, Red is the youngest member on the Insight roster and a welcome piece in the larger puzzle that is modern snowboarding. His segment in the film is a milestone-something he’s been working toward for quite some time. When Red got the call to film for Insight he couldn’t believe it. “I’m just so happy; I couldn’t be more happy. I wanted this to happen so bad. This is a dream come true,” he says.
Keep an eye out for Red’s full part dropping this later this fall.

Worked great on about 6"-8" of average snow starts to struggle a bit past 8". kzread.infoUgkxoHYZbq5g9fkcAtinlTqstNlje-UQkCHN Very light weight and the chute spin control works well. For the low price you get a ton of value. My only complaint is managing the cord as it does take a fair bit of effort to watch and pull the cord out of the way. I found myself having to whip the cord out of the way a lot when I needed to make one way passes to mange the blow direction. It's less of an issue when you can work both directions. A battery powered version would be a lot easier to handle but that is also double the price and requires battery care. I chose the corded version so I didn't have to worry about batteries but I do now see how much work the cord is. I let my neighbor borrow it and it outperformed his smaller gas blower, he was totally sold. Very pleased with the power and operations. My only suggestion is to spend a bit more on a cordless version if you have budget for it. The cord is a bit more of a headache than I thought it would be. Very pleased with the Snow Joe brand and quality.
And to consider he grew up to be an olympic gold medalist... he’s seriously one of the coolest guys ever. He doesn’t take what he’s doing too serious and seems to genuinely like what he’s doing. Good for him, hope he wins again in the next olympics.

Awesome. I had a huge sledding hill a block from my house in Alaska growing up and learned how to snowboard and most of my tricks on n that hill. I was there almost every day after school. The run from top to bottom was about the length of a football field so we had several kickers built that we hit on the way down. It was nice practicing tricks there and then going to the resort and busting them out like a pro.
Awesome....and now GOLD! Congrats!!!!
This video is such a blast from the past. I think I had a physical magazine subscription when it just came out. I was so jealous of this kid. Including the fact het got to go to Super Park. Cool stuff!

It was Red's house pre gold medal. Lived a few blocks away couple season before buying home outside town.
