If you haven't watched any of my other videos on being a teenage mother, I became pregnant at 17, and had my son when I was 18. My son is now 14 and graduated from grade 8 last week. He's heading into high school in the fall.
Going through his final week, and his grade 8 grad were definitely a bigger deal to me than they were to my son. I remember walking to school with him when he was little, when he would hold my hand the entire way, and we would play words games on the way. It feels like we're saying goodbye to a lot. That stage of his life when I carried him everywhere we went is over now, and he's heading closer to the age that I was when I had him. Strange.
Watching him grow out of being a boy, and quickly becoming a man is a gift I absolutely welcome and feel grateful for every day.
