    Hahahahhah, my wife is an INFJ and I can't stop dying. She knows details about people's lives and then covers it up with some perfect reason of how she knew or circumvents the question completely with something like "everyone needs toilet paper". That was a perfect sketch for an INFJ. Also they have a lot of internal dialogues which you showed so perfectly. I love that!

    INTJ here. I got different stages of gift giving Either tell me, or I won't get it If you don't tell me, I'll just do something you like with you. If you are one of the chosen few I trust, you could tell me, and I'd get it Or, I will spend literal weeks observing you and what you need, as well as reflect on who you are as a person and get a gift you actually like

  • @Kimbolie12

    As an INTJ I actually love coming up with gift ideas because I feel great when I spend hours researching the ideal gift for someone and feel great when they (obviously) love it. I do however, get annoyed when people don't give me exactly what I asked for. "No sis, I don't want any clothes. Yes, you keep saying I don't have any fashion sense, but I disagree, an entirely black outfit never goes out of style." And still what do I get...clothes. So this year I got a few practical items for my ISTJ mom (water bottle and a huge scarf), a bunch of cute bunny stuff and an ugly pillow with photos of my sister's rabbits for my INFP sister and a box with liquor and cute christmas ornament with a picture of the family chihuahua for my ESFJ dad.

    INTJ here. The thrill of the gift hunt is very real! But for me, the best gifts to give are ones for White Elephant gift exchanges where I can focus on the object itself and the creativity of the packaging instead of having to socially read into the personal aspects of the reciever. (While I do try to channel both Hans Doofenshmirtz and Leslie Knope when gift-giving, doing more of the former is more fun). My past white elephant gifts include: -a hand bell, British chocolates, and a gift card wrapped to look like a plunger with a toilet paper bow (tp has since become my calling card during the White Elephant with that group of friends) -a bottle of vodka in a brown paper bag shoved up the rear of a donkey pinata with a toilet paper tail to the bottle sticking out, Moscow mule mugs at its hooves and a lime-shaped bottle of lime juice hanging by its ear, all wrapped up in a box filled with toilet paper padding -a full paella kit and pan wrapped in a cardboard structure such that it resembles a real-ish-sized R2-D2 -a small Newt Scamender-style vintage suitcase filled with a fossilized megladon tooth, an owl ornament, an ancient insect stuck in amber, and antique spell(ing) book, with the suitcase rigged to play the Hedwig theme and release rubberband-powered flying butterflies upon opening

    Kristiiiin,how did you so accurately capture my pain with these gifts 😳 I always prepare handmade cards for my family (i put so much effort into colours and the illustartion). In the end,i just google some birthday wish poems (i'm not interested in words). Guess what interests my "b-day card receivers" the most : the poem. They read it out loud, they thank me for it, and absolutely no appreciation is given to the thing that I actually created with my own hands 🥲 I'm still amazed by your accuracy and amazing sense of humour. So glad that you are back! Hope you had great rest ☺💕

    INTP here. One of my hobbies is making scrapbooks and birthday cards. I only make these for people I really, really care about. My friends appreciate my homade cards a lot more than my family members do. Last Christmas, I made five scrapbooks of my daughter. I spent four months on them and a multiple late nights. Only two people truly appreciated them. One person I know that appreciated them was an INFP. Another person who brushed the scrapbook to the side was my monster in law, an ESFJ.

    I will say, reading it out loud doesn't mean that's the part they appreciated the most, and they are thanking you for the whole card. I hope they know that it's handmade, and they probably assume you do that because you enjoy it and are good at it, and not because you are looking for affirmation. Not everyone has an eye for good art.

    Great to see you back. As an INTP, I hate Christmas because it usually goes something like this: Me: *blissfully oblivious to what time of year it is* Friend: Hey, you awake? Me: Huh... yeah I was just thinking. Why? Friend: I got you this for Christmas. I know you've always wanted one. Me: *inferior Fe triggered* (No! I forgot about buying Christmas presents but now they've bought me one! What do I do? If I don't accept it, that'll be an insult, but if I take it and don't give anything in return, will they see that as an insult as well? Have I been forced into an unwritten contract of gift giving just by being offered this? If I don't give them anything, will I just look like a horrible person? I wish they'd told me that they were getting me something so that I would have time to prepare.) Friend: Go on, take it. Me: *through gritted teeth* It's just what I wanted...

    As an ENTP I want to give gifts, but with Ti Fe in the middle, if I give something I want to give something really really good. Giving a mediocre gift is worse than no gift at all. But giving a really really good gift takes a lot of time, money and effort. Which I could do perhaps for one or two people. But, giving a gift to just one or two people, means I am singling people out which my Fe can't do that. But I can't give gifts to everyone, because my Ti can't just give what i feel like. Whatever I do I have to really think things through. Just thinking about what would be an appropiate gift can take a month of pondering.. And I can't just give what i feel like giving, because i do not even know what acting how I feel like even is. So, the logical solution is, I do not give gifts to anyone.

    The INTJ-depiction was pretty nice and surely applies to a lot of them! But from my own experience I suppose that INTJs actually enjoy taking their time searching and ruminating for an ideal gift, especially if the target person means a lot to them. Something practical which they also may personally like and touches their heart - from an INTJ standpoint, of course :D And it makes us genuinely happy, if the person really likes it. And as the video depicts greatly, books are a spot-on communication device with a meaning XD

    I don't usually buy gift cause I think it's stupid to buy gift just because "this day you should" but once in a while, I offer something to someone close for a particular reason. And I always nailed it ! My ex-bf also wanted us to give each others presents to birthday and Christmas, I always gave him the perfect gift (is still use them cause they were great and pratical) and he always have no clue eaven when I was pretty obvious about what I wanted. Once I left for him the link to exactly what I wanted on the computer (size, color, everythings, he just had to use this freaking link) but still he decided to find better by himself. Result, it wasn't pratical at all and I never used that shit after the first try; So yeah INTJ can be great at giving gift when they loved the persons. Instead of this, not really. And please don't try to outsmart me and giving me somthing better that I want. I know what I want and I want this particular thing, you don't, stop trying.

    In the ENFP's defense, I'm sure it was because he spent so much time thinking about all the different potential gifts and how perfect each one of them would be and happy their person would be when they opened it and then time ran out and dread set in and Si said "I told you so, you should have bought that 3 weeks ago", Fi scolded the ENFP for being a bad friend, and Te repeated the same thing over and over again while the ENFP frantically ran around the house, and Ne saw a newspaper and random doodad behind the couch and said "I got this, everything will be ok." : "Only everything was NOT ok" :) Cheers and welcome back!!

    I'm either an INFP or an INFJ (still not that sure) and for me it's not that hard to put the effort in for other people. I do love ENFPs but y'all can be so selfish sometimes - especially if doing something for other people means leaving your comfort zone which I get but if it's for the people you love then surely it will be effortless to manage yourself since it's for THEM? if you are forgetful then have a time or aa daily reminder or put it in a calendar and stick it on your wall so you see it every time you wake up. Saying that you are forgetful is such a selfish excuse. Write things down for christ's sake. A lot of ENFPs are very happy to have people wait on them but at least you stop when it's pointed out to you. So if anyone is reading this and you have a selfish ENFP friend, you need to call them out! They'll stop their behaviour when they realise they are hurting you which I appreciate about them

  • @killbill9847

    @killbill9847

    @@juliall255 Hmm I see and hear you and your feelings are totally valid. We are very forgetful, that is true, it's I think one of those negative traits we have like all the other types. But there's a difference here because what you're saying is as if every ENFP in the same category. I'm myself an ENFP and know others that are quite forgetful and hurt their loved ones because of it but many are forgetful, but will remember the things that they would do for their loved ones. The forgetfulness is something typical of ENFPS but the selfishness that is bound to it isn't. And I 've read an interesting reddit post that talked about it: "Selfishness is a character trait that is unrelated to an individual’s cognitive preferences. Selfishness happens when I am bigger/more important/more real than you. It happens through ignorance (lack of experience being selfless) or through emotional turbulence (feeling fearful of losing someone/something, feeling invisible or unloved, etc.). Every one of us is selfish sometimes. Some of us are selfish most of the time. Some are selfish only occasionally. That last group is not less selfish by happenstance, but because they have grown in character and their personal values have cultivated selfless behavior." I think that that distinction is quite important to not generalise an entire group of people, because yes you're or were hurt but generalising is mostly not a good option.

  • @Meg_intheclouds

    @Meg_intheclouds

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@juliall255 I see your point but there is such a difference. My problem is I spend so long trying to find the perfect gift for someone but am always unsure about what to give. Managing myself is never effortless, and reminders don’t always work for me, I try to be organised and think ahead but then time happens and suddenly it’s the week before Christmas and I have only got half the stuff I need to. I spend so long trying to get them the right present and then run out of time and panic. If I could manage stuff better I would but it’s never effortless- even if I love the person. And it’s also not selfish. It doesn’t come from a place of thinking everything will sort itself out or expecting others to do that- it comes from a place of wanting to show the person you love that you care and make them genuinely happy, a lot of stress and then being forgetful and not knowing what to get and then berating yourself for being stupid before Christmas and that you are a terrible friend and yeah there is that voice saying I am selfish in the back of my head. I can see where you are coming from- but also that comment shows strong Fe, so I’m thinking maybe you are an INFJ. But for me anyway it’s not me being selfish, and yes it is a weakness but something I’m working on and I hate that I do it, I hate that I forget. And it’s not as simple as “writing stuff done” the amount of organisation systems I have tried is a lot and I’m yet to find something that 100% works. Because again being forgetful isn’t a selfish excuse because some people genuinely can’t help it. However when it comes to people I care about I mostly remember things- like birthdays, important events, things they tell me ect. It’s just when it comes to Christmas there is so much organisation stuff that needs to be done and it’s just a stressful time all around. And gift giving is something I love- but I spend so long trying to pick the perfect gift for the amazing people in my life- I end up running out of time. You can care a lot about someone and still fail to have good management when it comes to them. And everything does get done eventually- there’s just so much that goes into it in our heads that most of us can’t explain or even know how to fix. Every type has its downside and this is ours. But I can understand your point to an extent- it seems frustrating to other people who don’t have that kind of brain. Honestly I think you are an INFJ because your annoyance at this “selfishness”, points towards critical Fi- but I can understand how it would be annoying to an Fe user. So yeah I would say look more into INFJ. (this might not be the same for all enfp’s this is just me- but also it’s a high possibility I have adhd which would explain a Lot- my mum even agreed but said I’m too smart to be tested- whatever that means 🙄)

    Thank you both for responding so receptively. Yes, I also think I may be an INFJ too which is why I don't hate ENFPs at all I must add. You're my golden pair! And I understand what you're getting at, I think NFPs need to practice and get into a routine or force yourself to do all the xmas shopping six months earlier so when xmas comes around for instance you can just relax. It's true what you both say about each type having flaws which I think is the purpose of the golden pair relationship. INFJs have what ENFPs lack and vice versa. We come together like puzzle pieces and fix the problems on each side. The good thing about the NFPs in my life is that although they sometimes hurt me , perhaps unintentionally, all I have to do is point it out and they immediately stop which something I love about you guys. Often ENFPs don't realise what they may be doing to the people around but once they realise they feel really bad and change. I appreciate NFPs ''chiller'' approach, I know ENFPs wouldn't call themselves chill but you kind of are in that way. You can be surprisingly zen-like just as much as you are the joker . You are like an immovable object that. exists to weather any storm whereas NFJs tend to charge into it and are obsessed with slaying the dragon. An NFP can outlast anything on its own whilst an NFJ can survive anything on its own. NFJs are also more dogmatic and stubborn and quite fiery too. SE is quite a fiery function.. I can get quite defensive and ragey and prideful in the moment but will go home and think about it and then come back and apologise.

    A solution for struggling INTPs. I married an ESFJ and I have to be prepared for gifts, parties, anniversaries of all types and occasions. She's also Spanish so there's additional celebrations as well. My solution was to have a gift box. It is a box stored away where I hide random gifts I see throughout the year. I have to keep it filled but that is easy enough if you budget and take advantage of gift buying opportunities. I'll be at the hardware store and see some cute gardening gloves for her, buy them and throw them in the gift box. I'm at the book store and I see a signed copy of a book from a favorite writer. -goes in the gift box. The best way is to go out on the town and let her (without telling her) pick things out. You're bored as hell but you watch her swoon over a cute little thingy item stuff little thing that has the cute little button on the top of the thingamajig and then she moves on and you pick it up and buy it, put it in a "hidey" bag return to her midsentence describing another thing. When you need a gift it's in the gift box, where there are also cards. I held a tanzanite ring for her there for 3 years. Just keep it organized with variety. In a pinch you'll produce a gift that is "the most thoughtful thing ever you know me and care OMG I love so much" kind of gift. The benefits is that my ESFJ wife will move heaven and earth for me and even become a guard so that I get alone time. For ESFJs you need to try, success is in the trying but damn when you get what they want they become LOVERS.

    INTP here, Happened before. I gave a birthday gift to a girl you know the usual, gift card and box of chocolates because mom said it would be a good gift. I have absolutely no clue as to why not gift money and have them spend on resources they prefer than the resources you presume they prefer. Anyway, so I mixed up the gifts and somehow she ended up with my elementary school ID card and my stupid geometry box (yea the box of chocolates was not the big one). Atleast I'm happy I didn't give away my library card.

    I have to say, Kristin's impression of a man is spot on 👌😂 I'd say I'm a pretty even mix of ENFP and INTJ in this one. Obligatory gift giving is really weird to me. We all follow this strange social contract that says we have to spend money we don't want to spend (or sometimes don't even have) to buy stuff for everyone in our lives even though they probably don't want the stuff. Why don't we all buy ourselves a gift and then open them together? Everyone gets what they want that way 🤷‍♀️ I do enjoy opening thoughtful gifts, but I also love practical gifts (very un-ENFP of me, I know). Pay my electric bill? Sweet! Grocery gift card? Nice! 25 pound bag of rice or a new blender? Awesome! Some kind of experience or quality time together like a spa day, travel, camping trip, etc.? My favorite! I also like fuzzy socks. BUT I do the whole gift giving routine anyways, and I will be 30 minutes late to the event with half of your gift "wrapped" in a grocery bag. The idea of the other half will haunt me for years after you've forgotten about it, but I will never follow through and get it to you. On second thought, I think liking practical gifts is very ENFP of me. I hate spending money on practical things, so receiving them as a gift opens up my budget for fun, exciting (probably irresponsible) things that I wouldn't otherwise spend money on.

My son and daughter also gifted me with a coffee maker a few Christmas ago and I do not drink coffee.
