I have since bought a solar generator Jackery and just bring that inside and wired in a appliance cord off one of the outlet boxes and plug it in the generator works good.

I have a cabin similar to this being run on one 110v circuit. I'm thinking about running 220v from the generator to a circuit panel in the cabin and splitting the cabin up using two 110v circuits. What are you're thoughts?

Hard to explain in a paragraph but I think it would be easier to just run two separate 20Amp 120volt lines because in the end that’s what your going to end up with. Iam going to assume your generator has just a 30 amp 220volt plug.

You obviously know what you're doing. I'm wondering, do you recommend adding pigtails to the hot wires and neutral wires so that you'll only need one pair of screws on the receptacle instead of using all 4 screws?

Question for you: I am wiring up a micro cabin very similar to what you’ve got there. I will be feeding it with an extension cord. How should I connect the extension cord to the house and do I need a breaker or two? It’s similar to an RV all running off one regular circuit.

Two ways I know both are king of “jimmy rigged” One go to your local electric supply house and get a male plug end that is surface mounted. Mount that in a weatherproof box or into the wall through a hole and then mount a weatherproof cover over the top. If your not familiar with all the pieces it’s hard to explain maybe the supply house can help when you tell them what you want to do. That way you plug the cord into the outside wall of the cabin. Or you can cut a 20 amp electric cord feed it through the floor into one of the outlets strip and tie in the cord to the outlet. The male end of the cord sticks out of a home in the floor caulk around it and plug into that. I have done both ways and they work fine. You don’t need any breakers because the whole cabin is running off one 20 amp plug and the generator has over current protection on the plug,’ or should anyway. Hope that helps.

@@theredcabin I missed that at first too but it took a few watches to get it. Makes sense and definitely a simple way to do this. I’m curious if he thinks you could wire up more lights on the same circuit with them all being LED. lastly I’m going to hook this up to a battery generator so it can be in the cabin and will be quiet when it’s on.

@@on4acres you can wire more lights if you need them. Look at the watt rating Add all the watts up divide by volts which is 120 that will give you your amps it’s best to stay under 16 amps on a 20 amp circuit if planning to run them for more then 3 hours at a time. That ends up being a lot of led lights you can run.

Id like to energize like star trek the cabin with a geny till i have a robust enough solar set up with 5k inverter. Starting off with a 3.5 used ambulance inverter i picked up on offerup. Any advice is appreciated. Your video answered a lot of questions and made me flat out dangerous redneck diy non master....
