🌀155km/h Cyclone Biparjoy Heads For India Today 🇮🇳 June 10 2023 Gujarat गुजरात भारत चक्रवात बिपोरजॉय
Cyclone Biparjoy, currently over the south-east Arabian Sea, is expected to transform into a cyclonic storm by Wednesday and is moving north-northwest towards Gujarat, India. It is predicted to make landfall in Gujarat on Thursday morning. The current wind speed of the cyclone is 155 km/h, with a maximum recorded speed of 165 km/.
As of the latest data, Biparjoy is located 846 km south of Karachi, Pakistan, and has moved northward at a pace of 9 km/h over the past 6 hours. Forecast data suggests Biparjoy may achieve short-term growth and intensify to around 165 km/h if it can remain convectively cohesive over the next 24 hours. However, persistent wind shear and rapidly deteriorating outflow aloft are expected to cause the cyclone to gradually weaken thereafter.
The forecast track of the cyclone is uncertain, with different models proposing varying trajectories. Some models suggest that the system could curve eastward towards New Delhi after 3 days, while others predict a westward curve towards the Gulf of Oman. The initial track forecast is therefore made with medium confidence but low confidence in the long-term direction.
The cyclone is likely to have a significant impact on Gujarat. The coastal districts of the state, including Porbandar, Jamnagar, Junagadh, and Devbhumi Dwarka, are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall which could cause flooding and impact to property. There may also be power outages and disruptions to transportation. The maximum significant wave height is forecast to be 9.1 meters.
In preparation, the state government has deployed teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) to the coastal areas to deal with any eventuality. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea, and people in Gujarat are advised to take precautions, stay safe, stay indoors, avoid travel, and keep a watch on the weather forecast
