I concur. Well done indeed. For those interested in a trip down memory lane: the last time this was played in the 70's (at least in the US) was during the Songs from the Wood tour - half of it was played during the first encore, which was Wind Up (Martin began that first encore with a jam of Bach's Double Violin Concerto), and the second half was played at the end of the second encore, which began with Locomotive Breath. And for Stewart: that show was three hours, so the tightness of the band was really tested! They were the only band that performed at the various venues on the that tour (should have been the live album, with a three record set), oh, and they passed the test, what a show! -Arnold Stirrup opened the show with Wond'ring Aloud.
Yes!
"....eye...a one two, one, two. two three......"🎶🎶☝
War Child was the only 8track I had in my mom’s station wagon. I listened to that tape a thousand times and never wished to have anything else to listen to. Until I got the cash for Songs from the wood
i love war child
very cool take.. very clean notation positions.. I'm trying this and with your take it's going to be fun trying ( especially Martin's solos.. love the Ian's acoustic too amazing cover on this old favorite!
Great guitar playing Stewart!
Martin would be proud
Fascinating. Some clever people around :)
Ha! Silly sod I, thinking you wouldn't be including Martin's soloing! Yet another brilliant arrangement for the acoustic with great playing and vocals. Well done. Thanks! (Of course I heard "heh-1 2 3 2 2 3" in my head at the end. 😁 Cheers
This is pretty easily my top Ian Anderson lyric/ vocal performance. The melody and execution are flawless. The music takes a little more work to fully appreciate but it is fun to try to understand those drop offs. Excellent job sir!

It is stellar isn’t it? It has at least 3 killer tunes in it
Excelente Stewart una pieza con su dificultad de ejecución y magníficamente resuelta , espero verte en Barcelona junto a la Gran Dee Palmer un gran abrazo, ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️♥️
Great enthusiasm Stewart! I only have 145 songs to go to catch up! LOL
Looks like a piece of Jefferey Hammond-Hammond’s zebra suit hanging behind you, ha. Again, 👏👏👏Great cover to a technical guitar riff and one of my favorites from this Lp.
You looked like you really enjoyed that, Stewart. I remember hearing this at the end of those concerts on cassette and wondered where it came from and how brilliant it was. I had to be careful driving while listening (or the other way around). It's one thing that Anderson is a genius for coming up with this, but it shows how much of a genius you are for being able to replicate it so well and all by yourself. Another masterpiece. After 155 songs I still marvel how you are able to do it. Major brain power. You have no limitations.
Amazing, great, masterful performance as usual Stew!. Greetings from Spain 🇪🇦 again!. Would you please ever playing KISSING WILLIE ?. Hugs!
Drop one penny, in every second bowl… Make half the beggars lose. How in the hell do you come up with that. This is the type of genius shit that makes me crazy.
Great Job!!!! Super complex song. … done very well. …. Thank you I guess the best compliment I can give is that now I want to listen to the original version which I haven’t heard in probably two or three years.
you are indeed a gift that keeps on giving, Sir... thank you very much for making me fall in love with Tull music all over again...
Really just discovered this channel. As a lifetime Jethro Tull fan I'm massively impressed and delighted! Maybe we'll see you cover their new album? Lol

Thank you, and glad you found it!
LOVE this song. I actually heard bass and drums rumbling with you, very well done, sir:) Cheers!
Wow brilliant !!! I agree such and amazing different song. "Ladies" is another musically mind bogling song off War Child - just so much going on
“MIND THE GAP” as they say over there, right? You must tell us all where your hidden inner metronome is hiding, because you seem to never miss those missing beats. 😂. As she winked her eye. Brilliant as usual, I just love watching your fingers run over that fretboard and nice black and white attire today as well. Cheers!
Another fantastic and NEW insight into a song I’ve known for decades - thank you for the explanation of the musical joke - and a truly brilliant rendition too
HI Stewart, I love War Child but it became a tired old Tull album in the collection to me at one point but you really brought this back to life for me. Believe it or not my very first favorite Tull song (it was 1975) was The Third Hoorah. I was 14 and hooked. Then came Aqualung and the rest is history. Thanks for all your recordings. Brilliant!
Love it, spectacular job😎
War Child was one of their best albums. Great job sir enjoyed it. Thank you.👍
Great job on a song that has always been a favorite of mine. I love the background and musical insights you provide for the songs you cover. Even almost 50 years on, you give me more reasons to love and appreciate the music. Thank you for that.
Thank you Stewart. That was great! And now, … well it’s off to the album of course!❤
Thank you very much for yet another brilliant rendition. And oh how I love those musical trivia closer to the end of your videos! 🙂
Quite an undertaking......... and wildly impressive !!
Fantastic job again Stewart. Lovely rendition. Kudos and thanks.
Phenomenal as always Stewart! Thanks so much for covering one of my favorite Tull songs.
Gran pezzo ,l essenza del prog tullianio...bravissimo steward
Yes this was played when Tull toured New Zealand back in 1975, it was an unusual song to watch being performed as Warchild album was just being released Oh as always you do a great cover. Thinking of the concert it was the weird electronic sounds of some keyboard that was unusual to my ears back then
HELL YEAH Excellent timing
Fantastic, as always
He smiles and I think...he...winked 😀
Love this!

This song has moments to relate to in my personal life. I wonder if it describes Ian's romantic life up to the inclusion of Shona in His life? Fantastic Job as usual, Stewart!

Thank you for watching.
Wow very nice- How about Kelpie ?
Think I'll sit down and invent some fool, some grand court jester. And when the die is cast, he'll roll a 6 or 2.
Brilliant as always. You almost made this song bearable 😂 your version is nicer sounding than the original, which contains those horrid synth sounds.
Why do the faithful have such a will to believe in something? And call it a name they choose, having chosen nothing? Or as Dennis Landau posited in LITP Magazine about 25 years back are Ian's lyrics in a world of bigger motor cars or just the nonsense that it seems?? Great one Lord Wood!
