I'm new to rust and have about 40 hours time played and I checked my rust inventory after this video and I had one high quality bag in it, idk where it came from but I opened it and I got a tempered face mask in it worth $220 lol. I got super hyped

This shows what I've been saying for years now.... The ENTIRE item skin system within rust is an absolute JOKE and 99% of the time not worth breaking down. You're much better off holding onto your skins in hope that a few years down the road they will have some worth to them.... But whatever you do don't break down any of your skins for the soul purpose of turning them into materials for bags / barrels. Almost 3 years ago I wrote facepunch on how piss poor this system was and I ended up getting a reay smart ass response back that was the furthest thing away from anything constructive.

Of course odds are never in your favor with any of these things but the entire system of breaking down skins for mats to make containers is an absolute joke. Honestly I'd rather see the system disappear rather than just hang around as an eye sore of FP is going to leave it as is. What this shows me is that FP is making such an unbelievable amount of money from their weekly skin releases that they don't even feel the need to fix let alone address the component / skin system.

It’s not really a scam, at least not compared to anything else. You are giving the money to facepunch, but the skins they are giving you aren’t worth anything to them, it’s literally just adding pixels. Sure, they are making bank and giving the openers nothing in return, but they will always lose nothing
