My dad has those exact letterman’s and he beat tf outta then using them at work. I was cleaning out hit truck at a rest stop and he threw them away. I don’t know if he knew the significance because he got it from his boss one year but I did think they were cool and just like a normal letterman I guess not

I can’t believe leatherman isn’t making these available to everyone, most people that own them don’t even use them as a tool just a showpiece

They might think that this might not sell, why not make it a small batch, If it sell well then they can make more, if it doesn't sell they don't have thousands of inventory sitting around collecting dust.

Can’t say we all didn’t see that coming! Leatherman just lined the pockets of a bunch of eBay sellers with a tool that a whole lot of people would have bought if only they made enough of them. Another reason to hate limited editions, exclusives, sprint runs and any other term I may have left out.

The first leatherman I bought was the kick and it was stolen from me a year after I bought it, got it back after 3 years somehow, and then had it for another 7 or 6 years. That thing was amazing. I can’t even try to think of something clever to say about it. It was literally one of the greatest tools I paid $60 for. $1500 can suck bofamahnuts. Because it literally looks like a supped up leatherman kick.

I have the regular crunch version and loved it so much that I got a brand new one and drove 15min to their hq and had it engraved/signed by Tim himself, it sits in my safe as one of my most prized possessions Super cool a creator like Tim is still alive and so close

Oh you can change it from a needle nose pliers to a blunt nose pliers?! That definitely makes it worth $2,500.00.

Just from this initial look at it, I can tell my Leatherman Crunch is vastly more usable. I've been using that thing on an almost daily basis for more than a decade.

Does this look handy? Yes. Does it look really cool? Yes. Does it even look practical and usable? Yes! But does it look like an object with $1500?? I would sooner take a bath with a toaster

I purchased my Mr. Crunch, batch #001, for $199.0 . After shipping and handling, around $250.0 to my door. It's numbered, but I didn't have any engraving on it. I purchased it directly from Leatherman. I believe that this batch is sold out. Like you, I haven't used it yet. I'm afraid that I'll scratch it. Hahahaha. It's a very cool multi tool.

Damn, that dual style plier head is sweet AF.

I wouldn't be surprised if Leatherman came out with a batch #002 in the foreseeable future. We shall see.

Asking price and going price are very different. Its worth what someone will pay and most people are buying it for around $800-$900 range. I’ve seen 2 sell at just over a thousand that were brand new never opened for between 1000-1200

I carry and use mines everyday. Great tool that should be used!

I sent one to my friend in Canada when they first came out. He might let you borrow it.

I have been using my leatherman wave for about 11years and only broke the knife so converted the serrated blade to a smooth knife. Was my grandfather's before that so it well used and still going strong for a 24year old tool.

I read Leatherman Garbage, and that's all I see.

I know people love preserving and collecting things like this. And its valid to want to save an example of something so cool, but I hope a few got to see service in a much needed place. It looks like a real no bullshit pocket buddy.

The Garage pisses me off so much. I missed this by five minutes, maybe less. Same with Batch 005. Make Mr. Crunch a standard release, with a larger number, but some alterations.

Does that have magnets? I wonder how well that thing, especially the plier part might work, as the needlenose part is rather bulky, and all sortsa gunk will get between stub/needle gap. And stubby pliers jaw area is quite small, and limited from other end by the wire cutter. I didnt see the other tools yet but im keen to stare at their design from nothing but view of daily user, be it in garage, hiker, fisher, biker etc 👍🏻

That’s definitely one of the biggest things I hate about leatherman that they boycott their tools to make them collector items instead of just sick tools anyone can buy like the 005 garage

Definitely not one to go around using since it's a very limited edition but for a collection it's definitely one to have. Never know, zombie apocalypse happens and the value merit changes and it's practical usefulness comes to play

I bought my multitool used on ebay for $15 so I don’t cry when something happens to it

i just learned about the crunch and saw the price for used-like-new for over $300.. i kinda balked at that. still want one, but yah... i don't understand how they can call this the mister crunch when the OG crunch is a set of folding locking/vice grips.. these are awesome, no doubt, but not like the OG crunch where it'll fill a hole in my tool bag that no other leatherman will fill. where those are.. still just pliers. i'm with u, i'd be afraid to use it, hell, i'd be afraid of opening it... lol, fr tho.. i'd treat that as an investment to pull out in 10 years or more and sell. sadly, not a tool anymore, just an investment, lol. there's a problem with that in the knife collecting community too. there's a problem of diminishing returns after a certain point of spending more money can only get u a knife that "knifes" so far, and from there ur just spending more just cus... not that it's any better.

I hate the garage, I wanted a mr crunch and batch 005 for work, since they’d be super useful to have. I missed out on both, and now if I wanted even one of them, I’d have to pay more than my digital manifold gauges to get one.

I don't know how I feel about a modern-day handymans tool being too rare to use on a worksite, being in existence. It's a beautiful piece of kit, but damn I wish it wasn't so rare.

I just want Leatherman to make a tool I want to buy. Seems like that would be where the money is. I guess pretty soon, they will have the monthly auto ship box with a new tool?

in my world, there are no collectors items. I only buy things I can trust in use, not in a display cabinet. there's no doubt this can be used well, but I would rather buy 10 edc kits and full medical kits for use than 1 tool that I would be afraid to scratch.

You could buy several tool boxes and tools to fill them for that.
