Up Air > N-Air is *the* optimal combo for Mario at mid % and Prodigy took full advantage of it. N-Air has so little landing lag (six frames) and knockback that it can combo into grab, Up Air, F-Tilt, D-Tilt, F-Air and B-Air, (with Attack Cancel) and rack up massive damage and create devastating combos out of it. Mario's frame data is ridiculous and a lot of characters would kill to have such a quick attack speed like his.

yep, Byleth actually out ranges a lot of mario things (surprisingly, unlike lucina which is his other choice, that is also out of practice). But with that air drift speed, if Mario ever gets in, its going to hurt. He has to pretty much always keep Mario out and play a perfect spacing game (which to be fair Mkleo had proven he can do so many times over and over)

Also this might have happened before. At summit 2. In round robin pools leo had to fight esam. The 1st seed had to fight muteace and esam is bad against peach. Leo maybe thought if esam lost to mute then he wouldn't meet him in bracket again so he was okay with losing.

You have a really good point that I've heard before about adaptability making a great player... I remember at a Con several years ago I did a Bo5 in Smash 4 with a player who I think was tournament level? Regardless, he was destroying everyone there, in 8-player Smash even, without it being even close. I got destroyed on the first 2 rounds, but then I somehow got the download on his playstyle and managed to beat him the 2 following rounds. Sadly, he did beat me again on the last fight, but I didn't felt salty about it at all. I was already impressed with myself that I took it to game 5 despite being only average at the game based on skill level alone. My opponent was impressed too, apparently, and he shook hands with me very respectfully at the end, saying GG and stuff, which he hadn't really done with anybody else in the room since I had gotten there. He then asked me if I played in tournament as well and stuff like that and I was really embarassed to say that I didn't. He admitted that he wasn't really his main, but actually trying to use a new character for the heck of it, but that he still thought that I had potential if I kept playing. Still haven't actually participated to any tournament to this day, though... social anxiety is a big barrier and I don't have that much of a competitive spirit. But I still remember that day of my first contact with the "hardcore" Smash community as being a good one. If only my base skill level wasn't so garbage, I would have more self-confidence to actually be part of it... But later on, I got on Twitter and what I saw made me nope out of there. But yeah, TL;DR, that guy was stuck playing like a robot like you said due to not having any serious competition and adapting to it is what made me win 2 rounds. Sorry about the long written flashback here, I kinda felt nostalgic for some reason.

Leo's a true pro. He has one of the best mentalities I've seen in a Smash player. Its what won him the tournament aside from his ability to adapt and his great fundamentals. Most people probably would have been way too shook to go through loser's after that loss--and that's not counting the fact that loser's in this tourney was pretty much a boss rush mode for Leo afterwards. Dark Wizzy, Nairo, Samsora, Dabuz, zackray, Tea, Tweek, and top it off 6-0ing Maister. Yeah. Guy's a legend. And Prodigy beat that legend, even if he didn't win the tournament.

Kids have faster reaction time and are more high energy than adults. This helps them do godlike combos and tech. Also, they tend to be more fearless or reckless. Adults tend to be more slow in reflexes and focus more on the anticipation aspect of the game. While they are slower (not by much tho), they have mote knowledge and wisdom in playing the game for years.
