15 Wild Animals That Saved Human Lives

Not all wild animals hate humans. Most do, and we kind of deserve it. But some of them just want us to survive and thrive as they do, and frankly, we should be more grateful. From two lions that took an immediate liking to a young girl, to a sea lion that wanted to give a suicidal man one more chance, here are 15 Wild Animals That Saved Human Lives!

When I was a child I had a cat named Charlie. I suffer from severe asthma and when I was younger I was prone to attacks. Charlie realized I was having trouble breathing and he ran up and down the steps of our house causing a racket, my mother who was downstairs realized his odd behavior and came upstairs to realize I was having an asthma attack. I was 5 years old. Edit: wow! 4.3K likes. Holy cow!

I have a similar story: I had this dog when I was younger, and every time when I had asthma attacks, she would bark like crazy and/or pull on one of my parents’ pants to get them to notice me. Sadly, a few years ago, she disappeared somewhere.

My dad went to Mexico for his honeymoon and apparently swam miles off the shore. He was a really strong swimmer so he figured why not. Apparently there was a dolphin following him the whole time. He was confused as to why until the coast guard and a guy in a helicopter said that there was a massive shark trying to hunt him but wouldn't because the dolphin was there.😭 That dolphin saved my dad for sure that day

I don't understand how anyone could kill ANY animal for sport? Humans act like they did something special when they used a super advanced killing machine to kill themselves creatures. I would much rather see them try to kill one without any weapons and we'll see who comes out on top. Animals are much more beautiful when alive than dead. I think leopard spots are gorgeous, but I'd rather see them on thousands of wild leopards than as a coat or a rug.

Something similar happened with my pet cow. I was in the pasture getting out some feed and molasses for my cows, but recently one of the more distant cows had had a baby. She was still scared and thought I was going in for her calf. She came up running to me like she was going in for the attack, but luckily my pet cow ran up and “bulldozed” her off before she got up to me. That was definitely one of the scariest experiences I’ve ever had.

if you ever get attacked by a shark, try grabbing its nose. it’s nose has most of its sensors, and grabbing it can basically calm or “paralyze” the shark. it doesn’t harm the shark at all, but it’s the safest way to flip it upside down and get to safety

There's a story that sticks with me that a man was bitten shallowly by a shark, but when they examined his injuries to make sure they were as superficial as they were, it was discovered he had stage 2/3 cancer (either of his lung or pancreas, I can't quite remember which). The guy said he appreciates the shark since he most likely wouldn't have known he had the cancer before it was too late.

It's also amazingly intelligent on Lulu's part. She had to take "People drive cars", "People don't want to run over pigs", and "People can help Owner" and put them all together, then come up with a prediction using that information that people would stop if she laid in the road; and then on top of that she realized her owner's time was limited and that it would be useless if she was dead so Lulu modified the plan to include going back to check on her owner. That's some serious brainpower! I wouldn't expect that much thought out of a primate, much less an animal bred for being livestock.

My mom has a story about how she was in bed reading one night, and our adopted shorthair cat was curled up next to her. Eventually Mom dozed off and was startled awake a few hours later by our kitty urgently meowing and jumping on her. Mom didn't know what was wrong until she sat up and realized that a huge black widow spider was on the bed and crawling towards her. Our good girl still guards the house and the yard to this day! ❤️

ANY jump from the Golden Gate bridge is a serious attempt, not a cry for help. He jumped from high enough to break his pelvis on impact. The time he was falling from the bridge to the water gave him time to reconsider. Stop being a troll and grow up. I actually have training in mental health and suicide prevention. My first pony would always stop and wait next to me whenever I had a fall. No other horse I've ever ridden has done this. One particularly bad fall happened when I was ten. We were landing from the first jump in a single-stride combination. I went over his left shoulder and instead of my lower half falling outward, it fell inward, right in his path. He somehow managed to hit me with all four of his feet but not step on me, rolling me over like a log as he went. He half-crashed through the second jump, but immediately turned and trotted back to me. This time, he nuzzled my cheek until I reached up to let him know I was okay. I still have him. He's 32 this year and enjoying his retirement.

While that was dangerous, there's also a chance the leopard was going in for more of a play. Thats also common with animals that have a strong sense of play and a strong bond. There was another video similar, with the exception the guy was being purposeful to show why you don't, and with a cheetah. He held the camera to see behind him, so you can the cheetahs whole approach, and it def comes off more playful than deadly. To be fair, the man also has a long history with this particular cheetah, he is part of its group, not food, also cheetahs don't usually go after people anyways. But if it's a similar case in this video, it's more than likely an act of play with another family member that looks different than deadly intent. That's not to say just turn your back on them lol, as even play can be pretty harmful with deep scratches if they get overboard.

@ET Hardcorgamer holy crap dude lol. I've literally the same experience. Im not arguing that for the average person, its not a kill move. I'm arguing that when it comes to a person that literally has been apart of their upbringing, its play. You should always be careful with big cats regardless of the situation. But we shouldn't pretend that they don't have familiar bonds with their caretakers, especially ones since birth, or at least shortly after. Especially since play in a familiar group of hunters is very important for development, and is completely normal. I've probably seen the same videos you've have. I've seen video evidence of what can happen when the cat doesn't know you very well and does attack, because the person got to comfortable. I've also seen the videos where the cats either ignore the person, or do end up hinting at some sort of play initiation, with the difference the person interacting with them pretty much raised them, right after if not from birth. They had close familiar bonds, therefore seen and treated as family, not prey. Granted, they also probably had the best health examinations, also, and overall treatment compared to say those who think they're pets.

  • @Rhaenarys

    @Rhaenarys

@ET Hardcorgamer I did! Lol. He's not a good example as he DOES have that good relationship with the cats he interacts with. None of them looked like they were out to harm him, and the cheetahs? Lol walked right up to him and started licking his face. Yall seem confused. I'm not making an argument that you shouldn't worry about big cats and push your backs right up against their cages without fear. Yall don't raise those cats, or have not had any part of their upbringing since birth (don't even try to claim otherwise lol). Yall would be morons to do that. I would never do it. I would be a moron. But that guy? Nah. He's safe. And his videos only confirm my beliefs about his familiarity with the big cats he interacts with.

Just a small note: initially the female gorilla checked out the child. Then the male silver back was the one who stood guard, keeping away the others, and checking on the kid gently. As the leader of the group (the lead male is the only one with the silver back), he felt protective and made the others go back inside when the keepers turned up. A beautiful story.

My dad’s dog is his service dog. One of the early years of us having her my dad took her on a walk in the park and two men started following him. At one point she turned suddenly and growled meanly at both these men who were coming up behind my dad pretty fast. This is honestly the kindest, friendliest, most tolerant, and sociable dog I have ever met. Yet she still warned these two men of from my dad and sent them running full speed back the way they came. Dad was pretty sure they were planning to jump him as they had waited to close in on him once he got to the part of the trail that is bracketed by tree cover and not easily seen from other parts of the park. If that isn’t enough, her job as a service dog isn’t limited to what she was originally trained for. Usually she monitors my dad’s blood sugar levels, allowing him time to fix it’s either highs or lows. However she also has taught herself to deal with other issues he has had. Bouts of dizziness will lead to her either pinning him down to sit or lay or she will crowd him against a wall. He has fallen once on a walk of theirs, took off, and returned with a man and his toddler in a stroller to help get my dad up. Another time it was a bad allergy season and my dad was having issues with asthma because of it. None of us were home during a bad attack of his and so she ran and fetched his inhaler which was on his bedside table after noticing we would hand him this during previous incidents. Most recently she warned us of dad having a stroke and a few relapse episodes of some the neurological side effects. She also keeps an eye on how dizzy he feels and crowds him into sitting down when she deems him standing too long. A reminder, she was only initially trained to monitor and warn about his blood sugar levels and yet she learned all this on her own. However, I do have one last story. Once, my dad’s monitor, the kind nowadays that is attached to a person’s arm instead of the finger prick one, had malfunctioned and was reading incorrectly. This was bad as his blood sugar had shot up. When she warned him about it he checked and it seemed fine. But since she had insisted, dad checked with his back up finger pricking monitor and found out the true numbers. He thanked her a great deal after that. I’m so glad she is both stubborn and professional about her job. She not only loves it but excels at all aspects of it. We took her to the aquarium as a treat due to this. She loves watching fish and all the children there made her so happy. Two things she loves more than anything are my dad and babies, doesn’t matter if they are human ones or otherwise. They are her favorite things.

*Dogs are immensely loyal to humans or other species they love..! Even after they passed away. (Hyachi, Red Dog, High Noon actor Gary Cooper & his dogs, etc...) I love it when (wild) animals protect humans, children, and other species. And I'm so glad people get along better and better with animals in the wild, and don't shoot them out of fear, or some other useless reason. And it's good to hear your dad is so well protected by his service dog, it's one of those stories where you see the endless loyalty, sensibility, and love of a dog for it's owner! Sometimes animals can be so much better & much more loyal friends than humans, they sense unhappiness, sorrow, sickness, loss, and so much more.. A true friend for life!*

My dog, a large Afghan hound stud named Primo, saved my life when a stranger barged into my house. Primo immediately pinned him to the wall, snapping viscously right next to his neck. The man pleaded for me to call off my dog who stood nearly as tall as the man when he stood raised up on his hind legs. I let him go when he promised to never come back. Afghan hounds hunt in packs in Tibet and Afghani Primo was a notorious killer of everything he could, for which I compensated the owners, so that Primo would not be put down. I finally gave him to a man with a remote gold mine in Oregon where he would not get in trouble for hunting. Thanks for the Nice video - I especially liked the humpback whale that saved the lady diver from a shark. Awesome!
