I'm about to join the wealth management industry through a partner of SJP. I'm absolutely looking forward to starting my new role and love your podcasts. It's super informative especially for my looking into the industry from the outside at the moment.

The big issue with the low cost D2C advice market is it can never work on it's own. The twentysomething getting going accumulators will leave at exactly the time they become much more profitable - when their affairs become more complex and they need more support. All the attempts that have died have done so because they've tried to run a low profit type business with the intention of making money later but the clients will leave just when their affairs get more complex at exactly the point these guys assumed they would start being profitable to them. The only people doing this sustainably in my opinion are True Potential because they are making sure that the twentysomething accumulators are profitable right now for their d2c arm so they aren't relying on the clients staying later to make money...and when things get more complex for them later and they need higher touch services TP direct has already made money from them and has the wealth management arm to refer them too - to keep making money from serving them.

The TP model seems to have a good number of advocates, that's for sure. Thanks for your comment.

@@adviserpodcast not sure I'd say I'm an advocate...but I can see it makes sense from a business perspective
