15 Ways to Recognize And Avoid Low Quality Clothing

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

15 tips that will help you detect a poor-quality item right on the spot. When we buy a piece of clothing, we want to get a quality item. Unfortunately, it often happens that new clothes shrink or get torn after the first wash.

How to Select the Perfect Clothes for Your Body Shape 8:26
SUMMARY
- When buying clothes made of cotton, do this simple but very illustrative test: grab some fabric and squeeze it as tightly as you can in your fist for a few seconds. Then check if the fabric looks like a crumpled piece of paper.
- To check the thickness, hold the fabric up to a bright light. If you don’t see much through it, you are safe to buy it.
- A pull test can help you understand if you are holding a piece of junk in your hands, or if you have to pay for it right now feeling happy that you found it. So, try pulling stitched pieces apart.
- Make sure you buy clothes and accessories with metal zippers covered with a strap: they are the most reliable and long-lasting.
- Pants and skirts should have a hem of up to 2 inches. Blouses and shirts can do with a smaller one of about 1 inch. If there is no hem at all or it’s simply stitched, we do recommend buying this item.
- A quality item will always keep its shape. Take a stretchy part of a dress or a skirt, tug on it and then let it go.
- Zippers on dresses, skirts, or any other kinds of clothing should be equal in length, even and math in color.
- If you notice symptoms like this, don’t jump to the conclusion that you shouldn’t have skipped your gym. It’s possible that the manufacturer just saved money and didn’t use enough fabric.
- Natural fabrics, such as cotton, silk, and wool are strong and more durable than synthetics. However, 100% cotton can quickly shrink after washing.
- Examine fabric pattern and thread colors. If patterns don’t match and stitches are made with threads of different colors, it is a clear sign that this item was made in a hurry.
- When manufacturers make a fake or a low-quality item, they often don’t pay attention to little details. This is why you should always carefully examine buttons and buttonholes before buying an item.
- Good shirt and blouses must have a shoulder yoke. It makes the top look neat on you. Cheap items of clothes don’t have a yoke, so they don’t just look bad, but also uncomfortable to wear.
- If the coloring on the handles, straps, or fastenings looks faded or leaves marks on the folds, this is a clear sign of a low-quality item.
- When you buy a jacket or a coat, pay extra attention to the center back seam. The thing is your back probably doesn’t look completely flat, so if you want it to look beautiful, there must be a quality back seam.
- Even a very quick look at them can tell you a lot about how much effort has been put into producing the item. For example, if the pattern on the pocket doesn’t match the pattern on the rest of the item, it means that the production was sloppy, and they tried to save money on the materials.

    1) there is a specific number of stitch required, 12-20 per inch are the best.2) size of stitch, smaller stitch is better and will hold tabrics better. 3) high quality products have bartack in it. Thats the thick stitch at the end of zippers or in each belt loop. 4) all rtw are packed and sold for its best look, chemicals and all in it. 5)beware of sale items when a product has just been released, most sale items are out of season. 6) fold any item vertically. It should always have a symmetry. And to find a perfect fit, make sure the shoulder seam rest 45 degrees on your shoulders, not below it as it will look sloppy and not before it as it will look too tight. 7) inspect for holes or snags, and before packing, make the sales rep inspect it as well. 8) check the seams underneath if the color will match. For max produced items, there is a specific color combination for top and bottom thread used on seams..

  • @liyenong2017

polyamide and elastane is not natural fibers, personally I don't might elastane it is alternative word for spandex both means the same stuff ultra stretchy to make your clothes stretchable which only takes up 1-7% of the clothes fabric on average. polyamide, polyester, nylon, acetate, acrylic, lyrca, microfiber all these are plastic fibers for fabric purpose are made differently but they are still fabric and will pollute the ocean each was especially microfiber releasing micro plastic into the ocean. it's better to get 90%+ natural fiber, lowest being 75% it gets rather hot in hot countries having counts lower than that range

1:20 you know there is a fabric called "Muslin", worn by the kings and queens in the 19th century, especially Empress Josephine, and it is so translucent that it is compared to flowing water. Btw, Muslin's thread count was 800-1200. 🇧🇩 🇧🇩

The zipper bit they (along with a fee others) is wrong. They are saying that plastic zips that dont have a covering are poor quality. They arent, plastic zips can be just as long lasting as metal ones and don't necessarily need a cover flap, invisible zips for instance. It depends on the clothing design. With zips check they are attached with a straight, uniform stitch (I'm a seamstress)
