Canon made an easy and good decision making the lenses for the R7 compatible with their FF mirrorless cameras - it's a huge selling point.. HUGE! BTW: Excellent video showing the upgrades!

I made the same switch and for me it was a great decision. The animal eye focus is a game changer for me, I do wildlife with these bodies. The battery life is much better than I expected on the R7. I am currently at 1570 pictures taken and still have 2 bars on the original charge. I now shoot in compressed raw since my early tests showed very little if any difference. The weather sealing is great to have as well.

Nice video, but you missed a couple of important ones. The R7 has significant environmental seals that the M6 mkII does not. My M5 and M6 mkII were both damaged by having sand and dust blown into the control knobs during windy desert shooting. Also, the M6 MkII does not have electronic 1st curtain shutter, and images may be degraded by 'shutter shock'. R7 has available electronic 1st curtain shutter. I will also be upgrading to the R7.

You are totally right! It’s so nice to keep discovering more pros. I really feel like I made the right choice upgrading!

I like having only 1s RAW buffer on the R7. Due to this I simply have to deal with less images and data. Very good!

Yup! I’ve trained myself to shoot in shorter bursts now vs just keep shooting. And with C-RAW, you can get a few more shots too if you need it!

Did shoot with the 90D and m50, upgraded to R7 and M6 Mark ii. Nearly the same sensor the Color looks very much the same and I get out of both good results, the R7 is a little bit more future proof though. Good review and well pointed out pros. Still use the m6 more especially when travelling as it’s just a smaller package to carry.

Yes the M6 and R7 are quite similar in terms of IQ and colours. Indeed, the future proofing is why I went for the R7 too. Especially that I'll go full frame in the next couple years too. I haven't regretted it one bit! 😃 I've sold my M6... but I kind of regret not keeping it as a b-cam. Ah well...

@@coppensbram If you go fullframe anyways you still can keep the R7 as B-Cam than. I just use 2 cams as I need them for my channel and for interview stuff, or as back-up. For Studio work one is more than enough. R7 and M6 are nice hybrids and the R7 is a great upgrade. Hope the release soon some more RF Glass which does not break the bank. A 10-18 f2.8 would be awesome but lets see. Have a great evening

Yup, that’s the plan. Waiting for an R6 mk2 😊 and yes… an ultra wide with such aperture would be instant buy!

Hi Ryan! Do you mean lenses? Well… there’s a lot of choice. Personally, I’ll be sticking to full frame RF lenses… because if I ever decide to upgrade, I won’t have to buy new ones! Currently I’m using the RF 24-105 F4 L as my daily driver, I use it for pretty much everything. I also have the RF 16mm f2.8: it’s nice and compact, and not expensive. I’ll have a video on that lens in a couple days! If you like smaller primes, you can look at the RF 24, 35 and 50mm f1.8 too. I’m still looking for a wide zoom lens too, doubting between the RF 14-35 f4 or the 15-35 f2.8. Hope this helps!

The only thing Im missing in R7 is ALL-I option in video.....so does it make difference ? And do you think canon fix that in coming firmware update ?

It probably does make a difference… however, the video quality coming out of the R7 is fantastic - especially in 4K Fine mode. 😯 🤤 I doubt they will add it with a firmware update though… they will want you to upgrade to a full frame.

@@pal54321 Hmm I don’t agree. Having tested it out for the past couple weeks, I think the R7 is an amazing, capable camera. It has all the latest tech! And… its awesome for video. It will do just fine until the R6 mk2 comes out 😊

In my opinion, yes it is. Especially if you do mostly video, or you will want to upgrade to full frame in the future! 😀

All that is missing is a 10mm RF lens. Now that sony have released the 11mm F1.8 for their crop sensor cameras I'm sure Canon will follow.

@@coppensbram I hope its a prime because its more likely to be F1.8 - Im not a fan of the cheap zooms with a variable aperture. I just wouldn't use the 22mm end because it would be to slow

Yes it is! You really get a lot for the price. And it will be an awesome B-cam if you upgrade to full frame 😊

Is rolling shutter a problem on R7? I saw some video samples on YT where it looked pretty severe. A year ago I picked M6Mk2 over Sony A6500 because of really horrible rolling shutter on Sony. M6Mk2 is much better in that regard because of pixel binning. I am wondering how it looks like with video oversampled from 7k in R7.

@@bryanbuff Do you know if that’s also the case with R10. Theoretically a lower resolution sensor may be faster to read. Anyway I think I will keep my M6Mk2 for now and wait for comprehensive reviews of the new cameras.

I mainly use the RF 24-105 F4 L. That’s what I use for these videos too (except for some of the b-roll that’s shot with my iPhone). I’m looking for a wider lens though 😀
