Yup, at least in the USA, we can track it through our past to a pinpoint. Reagan pushed the "individualist" thought Ideology and "pulling yourself up by your bootstraps"; and people have continued to only think of themselves. Why help anyone out listen to rules that you don't want to? It's all about you baby! Anything else, it's just business. Trump pushed everything over the edge from releasing widespread vitrol and hate as an acceptable behavior. He is the perfect fake Christian, and allowed so many awful people who also pretend to be Christians typically, say all of the quiet parts out loud. It's almost as if none of them actually care about what Jesus said to do: love thy neighbor, help those you hate, and be the Good Samaritan when nobody else is.

While touring a mining museum in our home state of Nevada, our guide gave us some educational advice that we've shared freely since. My wife asked about an interesting piece of rock she saw on the ground and asked the guide if he knew what mineral it was; his answer was, "Leverite". My wife, who is a bit of a rock hound, looked puzzled; the guide laughed and repeated it a bit slower... "Leave 'er right there." Good advice for tourists anywhere!

On holiday in Germany - with fellow-Brits - some years ago, we toured a most beautiful old castle. In one room, there was a very old piano with a multi-language sign showing it was one of the earliest ever made and, of course, warning people NOT to touch it. It seemed alost inevitable that about a third of our party stepped over the guard rope and tinkled at the keys. How hilariously funny! We were ALL, of course, summarily ejected. Later that day, my wife and I separated ourselves from that tour (at some expense) and continued alone.

The story about Pompeii reminds me of a time when I hired a Ute Indian to give me and my family a tour of some ancient sites located on the Ute reservation near Cortez, Colorado. He told us not to pick up and keep any artifacts we might find. He told us that numerous times people who did so have returned items they took, saying that after they had gotten back home they began having a run of bad luck. I made sure that none of my kids took anything!

  • @gehtdianschasau8372

People, who think logically, won't steal such artifacts for obvious reasons. For everybody else, they tell such horror stories. Only idiots would believe them, but only idiots would steal something useless, that's impossible to sell, so this is a good tactic.

So, people who live there and uses boats to go around have to risk their lives to avoid a demented tourist? The canals are connected with the sea so you have waves especially in some parts of the city, the canals are narrow and it's already difficult to manouver. An historical city is NOT your amusement park. Stay away from Italy if you came here just to damage things!

That woman who insisted on climbing to the top of the Pyramid in Mexico (I could be wrong about the location, but it's in South America), despite hundreds of people telling her to stop and come down (she understood perfectly because she is Spanish), got to the top and then did an insulting dance before realising that she had just made a huge mistake, because the people weren't moving on, they were hurling angry insults at her. When she eventually decided to come down she was lucky to escape with any hair let alone her actual life. The people wanted to rip her to shreds. She must have been very traumatised... But she was warned and she took no notice. I think she was very lucky. The enraged locals wanted her to be thrown in jail at the very least, and that was the mildest of possible punishments. She had no respect.

Please note that most of these people were not Americans. Americans (specifically from the United States, if someone wants to start something about the continents) have an undeserved bad reputation as tourists. We are not always model citizens, but having traveled to 31 countries, I can tell you that I have encountered a LOT of rude and irresponsible people from all over. Probably a bigger factor is drunkenness, which drunks then try to use as an excuse for improper behavior.

There were people who were incredibly polite and respectful, lots of drunk clowns, and many who even got banned. People worldwide act more similarly than we think. when I visited the vatican I had a run in with security and then police. I was at the top of St. Peter's Basilica, people decided to smoke while we were there, which was bad enough in such a confined space, then they just tossed their cigarette buts on to the roof, of the basilica, such disrespect, I told the security guard but he did not care, no matter how hard I tried to convince him it was wrong, he got a bit annoyed. When we got down to the piazza I approached the police same thing again they were less then interested, I told them smoking should be banned any where around the basilica, I ended up calling them savages, that they did not know what they had, the cultural significance and so on, after my outburst, they got visably agitated, I thought time to leave!

Disrespecting other countries monuments need to come with harsher punishments. Caning is a widely used form of corporal punishment in Singapore. It can be divided into several contexts: judicial, prison, reformatory, military, ...It needs to be accepted by all countries where this kind of activities of disrespect are committed.

Can you imagine buying a nice home only to find out later it along with your entire neighborhood was built over native amercian graves? It happened more than im even comfortable thinking about. You can go on google earth and some you can find earth works with roads running through it and homes built on top. In short what we call home others call graves. Stealing from the dead is a common occurence in the USA. Disturbing and sad

Its like the tourists use to climb Uluru in the northern territory of Australia. The Australian Aborigines use to call them 'minga' which means ants because that's what all these people looked like climbing their spiritual place. It is like people climbing on St Paul's or a mosque. I dont think any one group of people are known for it, but some people amongst us all are just disrespectful or can't handle their drink....& if they can't or can't behave then perhaps they are not fit for being allowed to enjoy other peoples places.
