I was raised by a mom with hoarding tendencies and literally EVERYTHING was piled up in full view all the time…God forbid anything get moved or thrown away😱 So I never understood why I had so much anxiety until I got a place of my own. Even then I didn’t know/understand HOW to organize and store things until I started watching you. Turns out I’m more of a ladybug and need things neat, tidy and organized but all behind closed doors! YOU helped me see that!! Remember these things when you feel you’re in a rut…there are plenty more like me, I’m sure! THANK YOU!

Did we have the same mom? I asked dad the other day why he was OK with living in a house that was made up of newspaper tunnels stacked up 6 ft high and every plastic bag that ever came into the house. I didnt realize how this behavior had rubbed off on me until I started deep decluttering. I’m actually a neat freak as an adult.

I have learned so much from you!! Probably the most important thing was recognizing that we all have individual styles of organizing. I am a natural born organizer (bee/cricket), and I've learned to give grace to my family members who do it differently than me. So thank you for that :). I am a lazy housekeeper so any worthwhile hacks are my go-to. I understand the burnout of doing the sane thing day in and day out working toward curbing resentment or discouragement. I am reading Atomic Habits right now and he talks about the boredom of repetition. The upside is THAT is what separates the amateurs from the professionals; that ability to keep on going despite the boredom. I am so thankful i found you here on KZread. Thanks for keeping it real. Makes me love you all the more! As a fellow homebody introvert I feel like I found my tribe! I wish you all the best. You "crack" me up!"🤣

My dad was a gold record artist from the late fifties to early sixties. He found newness in the sharing of his songs I know throughout his life. But, just like you said, there were times I know that were harder to get up there and make himself put himself out there. But, he truly loved people (not too unlike you). So that was a big part of why he spoke to the hearts of so many from the stage throughout the decades that he was here on this planet.💖

My floors are always clean and it doesn't feel like a chore since I am already in the kitchen cooking and use them in between stirring something that needs to be stirred occasionally.

When I was a child my Mom would give us rag towels that we put under our feet and then go back and forth on the floors to dust mop. I'm sure we missed places but we got a lot of the floor cleaned and even buffed. I even had my kids do it when they were little. If your floor had enough space (ours were small but it still worked) it became a game to see how far you could slide.

@@Clutterbug please reconsider a few of these hacks. Fabric softener is meant to be rinsed off. It is actually a highly flammable liquid. Not safe to have on the walls. The fumes are also toxic to birds. It can cause respiratory distress. Fyi. Also, peppermint oil is dangerous for cats and dogs. Cats can get very sick just inhaling it from the air and dogs will get sick if they lick it. But the symptoms are vague at first and often don’t get notice until the animal is in liver failure. Cleaning sprays and diffusers with certain essential oils are a no no for people with pets. Peppermint, lavender and tree tea oils are three of the big ones.

I've tried so many different "get rid of your clutter" and cleaning hacks and none have worked for me. I ran across your videos last night and you're so relatable! I swear, the Universe guided me to you! I spent three hours last night working on clearing out our spare bedroom and completely emptied the closet....I hadn't opened it in probably two years! My husband came home from work this morning to find four big bags of stuff that is leaving my house today! I think he nearly died of shock..LOL Now I can't wait to get started on the bookshelves in there! Thank you Cassandra!

I found this so funny to hear that you get sick of talking about organizing & cleaning. Lol. I think everyone reaches a wall at different points. I think the good thing about organizing with people in their home is it’s different spaces & no one is exactly the same so there will be different energy, style, personality & the ability to impact people positively. Thank you for all the wisdom you impart, even when you don’t feel like it!

Hi Cas, I love your videos, and I do wash my curtains, but I don't dry them in the dryer. I wash them using a delicate cycle so they don't wrinkle, then I hang them back up as soon as they're done spin drying. They dry perfectly and the house smells fantastic, especially when I use scent beads. It works on sheers and blackouts too.

Definitely will use the knife and wipe trick! Spray and walk away is my favourite one I currently use. Worried about using bicarb and vinegar together after people were saying please don't do both for sink blockages. For me though, sprinkling the bicarb on my carpet and adding vinegar removed an old stain that dedicated carpet cleaning products couldn't do.

  • @judytaylor819

I was just researching the use of sodium bicarbonate and vinegar. It is not dangerous unless put into an enclosed bottle or jar. This is because the chemical reaction that will ensue causes a gas release that does the same thing that happens when shaking a bottle or can of soda: a possible explosion. In my experience with a white stovetop and a Hubby without the concept of burnt on stains, using bicarb with vinegar and a little time is easier than other products.

We have a lot of carpet in our home. I put peppermint oil (and eucalyptus sometimes) in baking soda to use as carpet freshener. The whole house smells fresh and no perfumes. I also do plain baking soda too. I’m totally using the knife/towel trick today. I pull my stove out periodically to clean the cracks. I too have a stove like yours but luckily it’s black on top. Baking soda and scratch free sponge does wonders. I use vinegar to clean the soda residue. Might have to get that pink stuff though.
