@@ursulawilliams7108 Poisons are ingested, meaning eaten or perhaps inhaled, and work by being absorbed. A venom is injected, by a fang or stinger or tooth, or in this case the octopus' beak if it bites you. The generic term is "toxin" for both. Thus as you don't eat the octopus rather you are bitten by it, it is venomous.

Assuming we don't murder its inhabitants before getting the opportunity to fully explore it... Billions of humans rely on the ocean for food, transportation, employment, etc. But we can't be bothered to clear out the 33 BILLION lbs of plastic waste that is discarded into the ocean each year, to stop dumping 180 million tons of toxic waste & chemicals into it each year, to quit transplanting invasive species into environments where they upset the entire ecosystem & kill native species, nor to stopping hunting species at unsustainable levels & driving them into extinction (for things like shark fin soup; which is a total scam since the fin is made of cartilage, has NO flavor, & contains high levels of methylmercury & BMAA). 🤦🏻‍♀️ Collectively as a species, we're not so bright.

Agree they were not totally accurate about the range in size of the angler fish as well, most of them tend to be a bit under a foot but some can be up to three feet long which is way larger than a “coffee cup” Also killer whales like you said aren’t fish and actually aren’t whales either. They are more closely related to dolphins, they are marine mammals! They call them “impressive fish” then later contradict then when they explain that they are marine mammals lmao 🤦🏽‍♀️This video was a hot mess but I did enjoy the footage and photos

As a child in Australia ( i was 11 yrs old) & not native to the land coming from the UK. We had only been in Aust for a couple of months when on a late afternoon i was running along the beach when i saw a ball & decided to kick it. I took it at running speed & kicked then felt intense pain on my foot, id been barefoot & i looked down to see my big toe & the next toe streaming blood I yelled to my parents behind me who dashed to me, horrified at my wounded toes, trying to find out what had happened i kept saying i kicked a ball My parents couldnt understand until in a fit of annoyance & despite the now swelling toes i marched over to the " ball" only for me & my parents to stare at this football shaped fish studded with lethal spikes & was obviously dead. Back at home & non the wiser my mother bathed my foot in a herbal prep shed used for yrs & also peroxide which stung like the blazes. But despite a slight fever & painful toes, i was ok the next day, swelling down & much less painful Later while telling a neighbour about my mishap my mum was told it was a dead Puffer fish that swell up on the beach & can be very serious if stepped on As im still here 55 yrs later, i survived & with little side effect I never attended the hospital or doctors, as i was fine next day & i really did whack that fish with my foot when kicking it. I must have incredible healing powers but i think it was mums special prep & peroxide that did the trick. Well something did lol

I love these videos but facts and photos are often inaccurate (for instance showing a similar creature not actually what you're talking about or calling an orca a fish)

I don't know if I'd agree with the Great White being the most dangerous fish. True, they're huge, but there are MUCH more aggressive sharks out there, like Tiger Sharks, Bull Sharks, Blacktips, and Caribbean Reef sharks.

When scuba diving, or whatever diving happens, the people should know that touching or damaging the reef in any way is strictly forbidden, and has consequences, that people wouldn't especially like. 🐚 Keep the Ocean clean and take care. 🍀 🌻 🐾 🐾 🐾 🐾

Surprised the cone snail isn't on this list. The venom in one cone snail can kill up to 700 people, and they're venom kills fast. Definitely avoid this snail if you guys see one, especially in tide pools

Yes, stay away from the Congo river because of the scary fish that lives there, not because of the crazy high speed rapids that are strong enough to easily pull you under into the deepest river of Africa.

  • @D_skeptic

Yeah, its definitely a hazardous river. As far as animals, I'd be most concerned about the mosquitoes (that carry Yellow fever, Dengue Fever, Zika Virus, West Nile, Malaria, etc), the hippos, & crocodiles which are far, far more plentiful & more lethal than Tigerfish (especially Tigerfish big enough to be a danger to people). But perhaps the most pertinent concern should really be other people. The country is among the most impoverished in the world & thus there is rampant crime in general & a number of terrorist groups, rebel militant groups, & gangs operating there.
