15 Incredible Facts About the Flintstones
Ойын-сауық
The Flintstones is an all-time favorite animated sitcom. First aired in 1960, this sitcom was a trailblazer. The main characters Fred and Wilma lived in the Stone Age. This classic is a quintessential series for pop culture. Everyone knows The Flintstones! We are here to reveal 15 unknown behind the scenes facts about this show. From production to near-death accidents, this sitcom has experienced it all. We will explore each fact and present you with drama you never knew took place while filming!
The Flintstones family and neighbors are not your modern sitcom family. The show follows their daily Stone Age activities with grumpy Fred and sweet Wilma. In addition, their neighbors Betty and Barney Rubble can be seen in almost every episode. Once their children, Pebbles Flintstone and Bamm-Bamm Rubble, were introduced to the series, the cast was complete. In addition, the famous dinosaur named Dino was a major part of the series. Fans quickly grew attached to each character and their funny interactions.
The show revolved around everyday activities they faced while living in the Stone Age. The characters had makeshift home appliances due to the time period they were living in. For example, they had cars, but they were not the kind we drive today. Everything they owned was made out of rock, wood, or animals. Their prehistoric take on modern life is humorous and entertaining, especially compared to how advanced life was in the ‘60s, comparatively speaking. This was one of the many reasons why the animated series was so popular amongst adults and children. Keeping all age groups entertained is a difficult feat. In fact, due to its mass appeal, the series was nominated for many awards and received critical acclaim. Many have accredited this sitcom for "paving the road" for other classics such as The Simpsons. The Flintstones was a groundbreaking sitcom for the ‘60s and has maintained its popularity for the last six decades.
Stay tuned to find out the most incredible behind-the-scenes facts about this series. We compile all of the details viewers didn't know while the series was airing. These are 15 head-turning facts about The Flintstones.

That was one of my least favorite episodes. Imagine that a young beautiful woman stops by and says that she's having car trouble, and she offers to baby sit in exchange for repairing her car and a place to stay for the night. When you wake up the next morning, both she and your baby are gone. How would you react? The Flintstones don't even seem to notice. In fact, Fred seems to be more concerned about an audition than where his baby is.

I love to watch the Flintstones and I still do as a 53 years old. The Flintstones and the Honeymooners were very similar, Fred and Ralph acted much alike. The Flintstones had Ed Suli Stone as Ed Sullivan; Ann Marrock as Ann Marget; Stoney Curtis as Tony Curtis. They had the Hippies, the Beach Boys, the Beatles on their episodes. The first time to have caveman to have his own TV show; the Jetsons were okay but I truly love the Flintstones way better. Yes he was right Mel Blanc had a terrible auto accident that almost killed him. He was an unknown hospital patient at first, then they found out who was. Doctors and nurses will say Bugs Bunny, he replied Hey What's Up Doc. Porky Pig, he replied stuttering That's All Folks. And many other cartoons voices. He was the voice of Barney Rubble who was smart, intelligent, full of laughs, and jokes. I don't like the newer version of the Flintstones, the original is way better. Sometimes even the animals were smarter than the humans. Mel Blanc was the voice of Dino the Dinosaur.

My favorite cartoon of all time ❤ 😍 💕
I can't necessarily say that it was the best episode, but I'll never forget the one with Grandma Dynamite, the little old lady housekeeper who was actually a bank robber. Another unforgettable episode had Fred entering the Indianrockolis 500 driving a race car under the pseudonym "Goggles Paisano", with the announcer proclaiming "He drives like he's coming home from work on the freeway!" But my personal favorite would have to be the time Barney decided to teach Fred a lesson about practical jokes by creating a fake counterfeiting machine loaded with real money to make Fred think he'd turned criminal. That was a blast.
Keep the Flintstones and add the Jetsons. It'll be fantastic!!!!!

I was a kid in the 60's, this was my favorite cartoon, it still is today. My favorite : Fred is in charge to arrange a stag party for the Water Buffalos, also Pebbles birthday party. The Flintstones are one of my favorite animated shows along with Popeye and Betty boop. Fred Flintstone and Ralph Cramden are definitely similar both loud , short tempered and overweight. Despite the Flintstones being a family show there's still adult references in the show. The show is mainly centered around adult life especially early on. Cactus juice is an alcohol drink. The episode were Fred had to party's to plan. A kids party and a water buffalo lodge party. Fred drank from a pitcher and said this is cactus , i can't serve to children. The dancing girls wore short outfits.
I like to see where they're flying a helicopter in mid-air and this is the scene where I remember the most was really funny that was built by them !
There were also a similarity in the episode where Wilma going to have a baby. The story line became very close to the "The I Love Lucy" episode with the script containing chaotic on goings. Both episodes are very funny.
One thing you didn't mention is that Bea Benaderet was famous for her role as Kate Bradley in the TV show Petticoat Junction, during which her death happened.
I watched this show in the 90s

The reason the show isn't as popular anymore as, it isn't shown as much as it was in the past. I was familiar with all the facts presented.
I imagine #7 was removed cause it says the randy van Horne singers are the Flintstones theme creator but people are unsure if that’s true cause the b52s are given the credit for it on a google search. I myself after doing some research can’t figure out who originally sung the theme.
My fave episode was the one where Dino talked, and had a British accent.
Here's a Fun Fact , Mel Blanc's near fatal car crash took place on " Dead Man's Curve " made famous in the song 🎵 of the same title by Jan Berry & Dean Torrence.
Bea died on the day of her husband's funeral . She was married to the conductor of the Cannon Ball. "From joy we are born, for joy we live and at death we melt in joy". Paramahasa Yogananda
@ Travis it was supposed to be an animated version of the show The Honeymooners, therefore not really aimed at children. It became more child aimed season 4 through 6.

The Swimming Pool was not a season 3 episode. It was actually the 3rd episode of the series. It might be my favorite episode.
We kids used to watch this in a bedroom upstairs - dad would come up and give us something that was also new at the time, ice pops....or whatever you call them, not popsicles and they weren't on sticks.....
THE SWIMMING POOL episode was actually the first one produced after the unaired pilot, which was reworked as this episode. It aired as the second episode of Season One, NOT Season Three. THE FLINTSTONE FLYER was the first aired episode. Dating the episodes is easy since the style was more refined by Season three. It was the Idea Toy company who contacted Hanna-Barbera with the concept of the girl doll to which Barbera quickly switched the concept, seeing the monetary potential. Ideal did not "advise" them. He tells this consistently in the interviews he has done. The story of how Yabba-Dabba-Do was not "speaking his mind" so much as if there were an argument. The consistent story here was that during the recording session, Reed suggested an expression that a Caveman would use to replace the line, 'Yahoo." Joe Barbera said, "Okay, try it," and it stayed. So Alan Reed created that trademarked expression that has forever been associated with Fred Flintstone, and has become a part of culture just as "Boop-Oop-A Doop" was in the 1930s due to Helen Kane and Betty Boop. I don't know where the connection to Brylcream story came from since that has never come out of any of the written accounts coming from credible sources. Regarding the change in Barney's voice due to Mel Blanc's accident, Daws Butler was urged by Joe Barbera to use his Art Carney impersonation, which he used for the Warner's HONEY MOUSERS cartoon. When Blanc returned, he adapted to Butler's interpretation with a voice having more depth. This explains the shift from the nasal voice from season one. Also, it's good to pronounce the names of the actors properly. Most people know that Bea Benadaret's name is pronounced Ben-a-dare-et. And Jean VanderPly is pronounced Vander-pile. The similarities between This is it and Rise and Shine are more coincidental that "inspirational." This is an assumption by circumstances, as both themes were composed around the same time. There is not documentation that there were any infringement suits involved that caused the theme to change in season three, but all will agree that it is a catchy song and is best remembered. The Winston's cigarettes issue was not so much the exposure to children since children also watched Westerns, which were also sponsored by cigarette companies. THE FLINTSTONES was originally aimed at adults. So the sponsors were WInston and Mile Laboratories. When it was realized that the show was attracting a large family audience, ABC sought out other advertisers to replace cigarettes. This was Best Foods, and later Welch's. They retained the Miles Laboratory sponsor as an alternate, and this brought about the Flintstones vitamins, which was another source for licensing income for the studio. While THE FLINTSTONES was nominated for an Emmy in Prime Time, it is worth mentioning that Hanna and Barbera received the Emmy the year before for THE HUCKLEBERY HOUND SHOW, which was a first run syndicated show. This was their first in a series of Emmys. And because of the association with Screen Gems, Hanna-Barbera did the animated titles for BEWITCHED not because of the connection with THE FLINTSTONES, which was only one episode, but because Screen Gems own a percentage of the studio at the time. These facts are documented in several credible books including the biographies of Bill Hanna (A CAST OF FRIENDS) and Joe Barbera (MY LIFE IN TOONS) as well as HANNA-BARBERA CARTOONS, by Michael Mallory, THE ART OF HANNA-BARBERA by Ted Sennet, and THE FLINTSTONES: A MODERN STONE AGE PHENOMENON, by T. R. Abrams.
