As a Timberwolves fan, I was hella annoyed with the Gobert trade at first. Really seemed like a rash decision (to say the least). However, this 2023-2024 season, he's proven to be one of the more valuable members of the team in many occasions and is on track to win his 4th DPOY with our #1 D.

Few things: - The TWolves trade seemed bad at the time and is still an overpay, but Minnesota's 1st in the west and is a surefire contender. - Ainge gave up a boatload of picks in that 2007 trade (7 alone for KG iirc) so if they didn't win a title it was a failure. (Edit: should also mention that this team almost failed multiple times: they went to 7 against the 8th-seeded Hawks and LeBron’s Cavs, then 6 games each against Detroit and LA., including a 24-point comeback in Game 3 of the Finals.) - Fultz ruined his shoulder, but he would've been a star had that not happened. - Kobe refused to play for the Hornets. - Rodman was an absolute cancer on the Spurs. He didn't stick to defensive assignments, constantly misbehaved, and was a huge reason they lost in the 1995 playoffs.

And in 2010 all the big three were noticeably worse than in 2008, especially KG. Boston also didn’t have Perk so Pau feasted. LA wasn’t as top-heavy but their team was constructed way better, and they had Phil Jackson while Boston had Doc Rivers. So the fact it was even close says something imo.

They definitely overpaid. But Gobert isn't a bad player by any means and the media and people were unfair. He needed to adjust to the system which last year was just bad. They should have waited to sign Ibaka and made sure they locked Harden down and then if they lost Ibaka so be it. Ibaka was the expendable player, not Harden. The Timberwolves have spent more time as the 1 seed this season than the rest of franchise history combined and have the best defensive rating in the league. I feel like they dont have many complaints atm.

Adrian Dantley made every team he played for worse. It's not a coincidence that the year the pistons traded Dantley for Mark Aguirre, they immediately won back to back championships with basically the identical roster. Bob McAdoo did win an MVP but is considered by most NBA historians as one of the weakest MVPs in undoubtedly the weakest NBA Era. He also wasn't a winner until he became a sixth man/ role player. I'm surprised the Magic Johnson trade isn't on here cause that literally started the showtime Lakers and he's considered by most a top 5 player of all time and the goat of all PGs. Also, I agree with all the comments saying the Gobert trade should no longer be on this list. As a nuggets fan, you should have mentioned how we gave the timber wolves the 13th pick, which was used on Donovan Mitchell, for Trey effing Lyles AND we also traded the 27th pick to the Timberwolves which was used to draft Rudy Gobert so yeah....

Okay to be fair to the Spurs, that “Best rebounder” has a lot other strings attached that are not going to show up in basketball stats, except maybe technical fouls and ejections. My favorite Dennis Rodman fact is that as of recently he was good personal friends with Kim Jong Un, and has spent more time in his presence and more time visiting North Korea, than any other American.

Rudys trade would’ve only been bad if the team was around the 8th seed. First round picks mean nothing to a 1st seed. Drafting Gleague players for no reason. Essentially gave up a couple of players and 5 gleague players. Maybe 1-2 beecome rotation pieces but thats it. We put alot of value on 1st round picks sometimes without taking account what that pick might actually be for that team.
