My moving hacks: 1. For books use suitcases on wheels not boxes - way easier to transport; 2. All my boxes I got for free from my supermarket - the beat ones are the ones for fruit like bananas - they are very durable; 3. Write the word Fragile on every side as you never know how its going to be stacked;

Draw out the floor plan of the new house and assign a letter (or in your case a shape) for each room, you could even tape that shape to the door or cabinet in each room. When you pack label the boxes with letters that correspond to each room. Then when moving just place the box in the room it belongs in. It is quicker to write a letter on each box then to write out kitchen, bathroom etc. I have moved 7 times in my married life and this is a great timesaver. Another tip to go with the floor plan is to have a corresponding color to draw a line against the wall you want the boxes on. Ex: orange "A" = living room, left wall; blue "B" = bathroom, right wall; etc.

I loved the tip of using garbage bags for your hanging clothes. I would suggest putting your cutout shapes on the doors of your rooms. That way you and your helpers can quickly put the right boxes in the right rooms.

Loved the styrofoam plate idea for protecting glass dishes . I am not moving but I am purging and I like that I can pack with care for so little money!!!

I use coffee filters to put between my dishes. You have great ideas. Can’t wait to see your new home.

One suggestion is to write what’s in the box on the paper cut outs. It saves you a step, paper, and tape.

labeling the boxes with the different cutouts is a great idea. at your new place you should put it on each door/room so the movers or whoever is helping knows which room it belongs in.

Congrats on moving! There is extra space everywhere that you don't even realize. Use rags, towels, socks... To fill up any extra space. It's easiest to pack more smaller boxes than big boxes. Trust me, I've moved several times! Use up every space! Cute way to organize the boxes 💜

Yes, I've seen the storage bags at my Dollar Tree. I also use the trash bag trick with my family's jackets. It's such an easy way to put our jackets away after winter. I love the idea you have with the mesh bag and the pillows. I'm going to have to use this method for my extra pillows.

The Dollar Tree sells the vacuum seal bags, use these for your pillows and bedding. They will then fit better in a box.

Good ideas! The clear storage bags have been around for a while. They come in XL (1 in a pack), too. I use them for all kinds of things. I store my seasonal pillows in the XL ones. I use the ones you had to keep my ribbons separated for seasons or themes. I can then hang them on white plastic hangers in my closet. And I love the shapes to distinguish rooms. I’ve used different colors (or patterns) of Dollar Tree duct tape. Several years ago, they did tape that said, “Kitchen,” Master,” “Fragile,” etc. and I just added colors to those. I did a legend (like yours) for each entrance and it was great.

Be careful with boxes from the supermarket. They can hide bug eggs in the seams and bring them to your new home.

Great idea with the cut outs. For the large bags for your food you can get them even bigger at Walmart. Used them in my classroom storage for wall decorations posters. Was able to hang on the wall.

I save on contractor bags(reusable) to pack up clothes, linen, plastics(flowers & bins) pillows blankets, ect Stuff & go... Being a military kid... Whatever is marked of destination in the new home... Good luck 🤣😂🤣... School backpacks are used for the clothes fir a few days & each person will be "responsible" for their own things. My boxes I donated to the closest senior home facility so they can use them to pack up belongings of their lost tenants to store for family. If any. Then they are donated to whom ever.

This is brilliant! All the ideas are genius! My favorite idea is using the different color notepads to assign areas of the house for where the boxes will need to go. Also, because it's so big you can easily identify its location without thinking about it ~ love it!

If you have a lot. Of breakables like drinking glasses or other things that are very fragile, you can go to your local liquor store and get boxes they are very sturdy. Call ahead and have them save you some. I have so many fragile things and I have only had one thing to break using those boxes, and we have moved a lot.

very nice, however many of the ideas have to be adjusted for international moves when everything is expected to be either wrapped or boxed, not in bags and were you are not allowed to pack liquids.

My favorite is the clothes in the trash bags on their hangers. That sure looks like it would be the easiest way to move clothes from one closet in an old house to the new closet in the new house!

I have a lot of dishes. I've never seen them packed with foam plates. Great idea for my next move.

Congratulations on your new home. The large ziplock storage bags aren’t new. They come in 3 different sizes, the largest bag is good to store wreath in them it’s the jumbo size and you only get one in the box. Good moving hack👍🏽
