    4:05 An open diff sends power 50/50 until one tire runs out of grip. Once either tire starts slipping effectively 100% of power is being sent to the tire with the least grip which provides very limited acceleration.

    What you said makes sense about the car having the power to do straight line both tire burnouts but then only doing a one wheel peel on turns, I was told my challenger already had the lsd but that’s exactly what it does, straight line burnouts are both tires, but the slightest curve and it’s a 1 tire fire. Will definitely look into this mod

    If you haven't stumbled upon this already, the 15' and up have a bastardized version of torque vectoring that applies the brake to even the grip on both wheels in certain conditions, making the open differential act as an LSD. This method is flawed and doesn't help a majority of the time, but definitely had me thinking my 2015 Chrysler 300 S 3.6 had an LSD

    @@freightrain808 Perfect timing on the question! I just did it about a week ago. It took me like 6 hours and that was with a lift (I have access to a lift I can use for free whenever I want luckily). Pretty much exactly like @DonnyR/T said in the video. Drop the exhaust from the mid pipes back, drop the old differential, then reinstall everything in reverse. You're going to have to man-handle stuff, just try to be careful while you're doing it if that makes sense haha. No problems so far, still working on getting in those 500 miles before I push it though. One last thing, just make sure you have the 5.7 in your 300s or this won't work for you, it's a different differential.

    Anytime you open the inspection cover and screw with the gears by doing whatever when pulling them out you want a break in period so the gears set properly if not already and so if there is a whining or problem with the diff you can fix it before causing to much damage.

    Yes it can the challenger and charger shares the same platform as the Chrysler 300, but there are some parts that stay exclusively to them. The rt rear axel differential is compatible with the 392 and the models above it. You need that distribute the high power that your hemi engine produces to the rear wheels along with a compatible clutch or something that holds the power of your engine.

    Hey whats up man, I did the 3.09 swap and everything went well, i had trouble getting the right axle to go into the diff, but i got it to go afterall, i didnt have any problems till now, i went to the drag strip and did 2 passes, after the second pass i checked the diff and it had oil all over the right side, looks like its coming from where the axle seats with the diff. I took a pray bar and wiggled it between them and I can push the axle out a little bit. It only happens on the right side, left side seated pretty well, no leaks, play, or anything. Hope you can help me man, I would really appreciate your help. Thanks!

    I don't think I would have spent all that for such a small improvement in ratio, around 340 would have been a lot better and you have the overdrive to make good MPG and top end. I have a 390 in my Scat Pack Challenger. BTW Open dif on a lift will turn in opposite directions when you turn one by hand and LSD will turn the same direction.

    Not a bad vid for just a guy morning his car. You really should have pulled the wheels and pulled the axels right. It would have saved you time and money. Also, an open dif delivers equal torque to both wheels, not equal power. There is a difference. If 1 looses traction then it takes very little or no torque to turn it so therefore delivers very little or no torque to the other wheel causing it not to spin. This is also cause for leaving 2 marks on takeoff. If both wheels have equal traction both will spin equally. I hope you enjoy your new gears man. I'll try to watch some more of your stuff

  • @DonnySRT

    @DonnySRT

    I appreciate the feedback lol.... if you want to split hairs about the units of torque vs power we can. I’ve made videos describing the differences between them and how they’re determined from dynos. I have an engineering background so I wouldn’t necessarily say I’m “just a guy nodding his car,” but I appreciate the double edged sword I guess...

    @@DonnySRT there is a difference between torque and power and in a dif it does make the difference. A racing spool delivers equal power for example. I wasn't hating on you. It was a good vid and like I said before I hope you enjoy your upgrade
