The only race that has multiple bread and butter units is terran, marines: always good Cyclones: mech marines Ghosts: best unit in the game (except in tvt but who likes that matchup anyway) This is not a ballance complaint btw for all you angry terrans, the game is pretty well ballanced at the non pro level

Right. FOr instance, Terran have marine/maurader/medivac which is good from the beginning of the game to the end. Protoss have the stalker and zealot but they get absolutely shredded once stim is finished. The rest of the protoss arsenal are just niche units. The archon needs a +1 range buff in the next patch IMO, but i dont even think that'd fix the massive disparity between bio and well, anything the toss have...

@@____GoMeZ____ I think a big problem in the PvT matchup is that EMP is just too freaking good against protoss armies. They become so fragile once you strip out all their shields (especially archons). Maybe make it so that the shield upgrades reduce the efficacy of EMP against them by 10/20/30% respectively, or something like that, which makes it actually worth spending money on in this matchup, since most players just skip it entirely. Upgraded shields that don't evaporate from an EMP barrage would enable late-game protoss armies to hang in a slug-fest so much better in the PvT matchup.

I like how the Grand Finals is just pure aggresion, no 20+minute lategame and just two guys punching each other on the face

Why Protoss Loses illustrated by the amount of foilable ground splash damage attacks: Zerg: 1 (Fungal), (hard to foil banelings and ultras if used well) Terran: 2 Widow Mines, and Anti-Armor Missile, (Siege tanks don't count, they're hard to foil) Protoss: 4 Disruptors, Psyionic Storm, Archons, Collossus This is why Protoss Loses at the highest level, but is so easy to ladder with. When designing the game, they should have replaced disruptors with something else. I think an upgradeable Stalker would have been best, one with instant attacks (no longer dodgeable), and has a slightly higher attack speed and damage. And they have one spell, similar to corrosive biles.

I wish there was a Winters mod to player stat buffs, like the stat cards portray.

the arrow points towards the player who is earning more at that moment. the number tells you how much more. so if e.g. Hero mines 1000 minerals per minute, and Maru 800 min/minute, the blue arrow will point at Hero and say 200.

When pushing across the map and winning how risky is it for protoss to use a recall on damaged archons? I hope that future protoss come up with cool uses of an aggressive recall in tandem with static shield batteries to restore the shields of damaged units.

some tournaments allow swapping mid-tournament, some don't. but only 1 or 2 players ever swapped races in the history of sc2 - because the races are so different. it's basically like switching from a saxophone to a guitar mid-concert. sure, you're still playing music, but all the buttons are different, the micro and macro are different, and the strategy changes entirely. so it's a rare treat to see that! you can check out some Raynor games here on Winter's channel, he usually plays zerg, but has shown a few really cool protoss plays this year.

its only the most top player that terran looks better, but below grandmaster league, protos and zerg win rate is higher than terran, so nerf terran again so 99% of the terran player win rate will be much lower?

@@Michiho. that's coz noobs flock to terran as it has the most... normal RTS mechanics, ig. Zerg and Protoss both have weird af unit production, Zerg is just weird in general too, so Terran it is. And also coz u dont have to learn since ur basic marine covers air and ground and if u ever make medivacs also heals at good rate and has quite a mobility. Not to mention siege tanks being both splash and anti-armored, which covers just about everything lol (it doesnt, but on low level it very much does).

@@Michiho. Why should we care about lower levels? On lower levels it's a skill issue. Where as on the top lvl it's a matter of whether humans can play any faster/better than this. Which they can't, because protoss haven't won a big tournament in ages.

As much as PvT is a nighmare for protoss, Hero got outplayed in this series horribly. Balance did not matter in this series at all.

I hope you can cast Maru vs Cure too. Of cos, spoiler Maru win or he won't be on final. But those are weird builds for Maru.

MILD SPOILER: after watching the first game, i bet the series will be something like "P wins 1 game, then looses until the series are over, with maybe a few moments where it looks like P might win"

I belive GSL is in korea and is played over a month, locally. Many european players just skip it becouse of that. Serral does not take part in smaller tournaments usually, and i belive he is about to go into military service, or already did. It's only like 6 minths tho.

You say like it's not true for protoss... Ever got all your templars emped? Your collosus evaporate cause it was 2 steps to the side? Your army jumped and demolished cause you run out of disruptor shots? Or maybe you lost the game becouse your archon or collosie prefered to attack supply depo instead of marines? One blink too far and got demolished by units out of vision?

Protoss units are supposed to be insanely strong with unique abilities, yet, the strongest point of the race is the worst of out 3 races. Like when you talk AOE, Protoss is the only race that do not have guarantee damage. Storm requires an accurate hit, and the opponent does not move out of the way for the entire duration, same deal with disrupter shot, and the shot can be destroyed. Vs other what do we have ? Fungal - one accurate hit = 100% damage, no matter what. EMP - any units caught is 100% shield damage - both does not allow opponent to move out of the way when hit, cant be interrupted. Colossi used to be good, now they are just viking target practise lol. Tempest and Carrier are just jokes. You would think Tempest shot huge energy ball, it should be AOE ? Too bad. Carrier is just way too expensive to maintain, and Mothership is just literally a 400/400 resource throwaway

@@benismann iirc Colosi is the earliest source of viable guarantee AoE protoss can have. Both storm and disruptor required high number, and bit of luck to be effective. So with storm and disruptor, missing shot in low number = deadweight. Colossi used to deal flat damage, now they are only good vs light.

for someone who doesnt play starcraft professionally youre not explaining enough... i need information about the time and building timings whats good whats slow and so on...

Past early to early-mid game Protoss, all things equal, is behind. They have nothing that beats the other races in the long game; carriers included. They are fully dependent on overcoming the defenders advantage prior to the 6th minute in some fashion or fully out maneuvering their opponent as taking a head-to-head fight is asking for disaster. The Protoss used to have disrupters as their opportunistic win-con, but that got nerfed (rightfully, as being dependent on a outplay-able coin flip is no way to be beholden) but they were given nothing as replacement. Watching someone like MaxPax get absolutely trounced by any high end Zerg shows how bad a shape Protoss is in. He takes games off Clem because of the sheer volume that they play each other, it’s closer to playing the man.

In theory, the "freestyle" theme for map design was fun, but in practice, almost every map these days is terran-biased. I have a feeling we're going to see them be even more dominant this season, and that's just... not fun.
