Ah that smile says it all. Brought me back to coming up out of the bottom of Spain heading for Cherbourg with the old TK roaring it’s head off behind the cab and the sound of that V8 waking up the dead going through little towns on the national roads at night, Christ I was a certified asshole.

There's a scene in Fr. Ted where a Scania comes over a hill in the distance, going up through the gears. The sound of that V8 never fails to impress me. My uncle drove these in the 80s. Described the sound as, "Starting in the basement, and building from there."

can't beat driving a rig. There really is something about them. I work in haulage yards and some of the tractor units are like small hotel rooms! we got a Renault cab once, costing 128k and I swear it was nicer than my home.
