He was 14 when he died. Sometimes you can't comprehend the true danger of a situation and assume that you'll be ok, because you've always been ok up to that point and you aren't expecting anything to happen. I feel like when teenagers do risky things like this, it's either a sign of a mental illness or something that they had seen demonstrated and thought would be easy. I understand how it feels hard to feel bad for some people, but in this case we should consider his age and that he probably didn't expect to end up as a headline. We've all been in dangerous situations that we took chances on at least once in our lives, maybe not to this extreme.

Sadly, this is why we have laws that (try to) prevent young people from accessing things like cigarettes and alcohol. Their brains just aren’t developed enough yet to make decisions properly. (Not speaking of ALL young people because some mature faster than others, of course. Just speaking generally.) It’s always sad when something like this happens. I remember seeing a video about what happens to people in DUI accidents and I vowed to NEVER drink and drive-and I never have, not once. But that didn’t stop my stupid teenage self from RIDING with people who were drinking several times. Sometimes teens just don’t learn until they actually experience something, and then it’s often too late. I broke my neck in a car wreck with my boyfriend (now my husband) because he was driving way too fast. Not drinking, just speeding. We both learned from that one, thankfully, and got another chance at life.

And that's where the parents come in to monitor and stop their children from being exposed to social media shit. My brother has 7 children and NONE of them have access to social media, they're all still alive, as well doing excellent in school, 2 of them being in college already. It starts at home with the parents, nobody else. Know who your children are "hanging with".
@ThePencilNerd
Жыл бұрын
@@AKAAAK They're going to eventually get on social media. No matter how hard your brother tries. In fact, trying to keep kids away from stuff you find dangerous is not as affective as educating them. To your brother, it's more easy for him to ban social media than to teach them how to handle social media that they're going to get on eventually. That's the only reason parents goes that route because it's the easiest way for him to deal with that.
@AKAAAK

@ThePencilNerd His kids actually do not own cellphones except for the 2 that are in college, they are of age now and out of the house. Adults now. The rest being minors, have tablets/computers that ONLY have access to under 18 content. And like I said, it doesn't actually work against him and his wife, because they do well in school and the friends that they do have, do not give them access either. They are well mannered, well behaved, children. To your point, they teach them what's important in life, schooling, family, friends. Not someone else's life and drama on social media. And really they don't bother with social media, don't ask about it, and frankly don't care about it at their age. When you're not constantly exposed to it, it's not important in your life.

I feel like when teenagers do risky things like this, it's either a sign of a mental illness or something that they had seen demonstrated and thought would be easy. I understand how it feels hard to feel bad for some people, but in this case we should consider his age and that he probably didn't expect to end up as a headline.

@@AKAAAK They're going to eventually get on social media. No matter how hard your brother tries. In fact, trying to keep kids away from stuff you find dangerous is not as affective as educating them. That's the only reason parents goes that route because it's the easiest way for him to deal with that.

Jesus . I moved to NYC when I was 12 from NC. Growing up in NYC with no parents was exciting. I was so bad, I rode the entire subway map just for fun. Me and my friends would jump on the tracks and climb back up to the platform all dirty. We would ride between the cars and even use the bathroom if we had to pee real bad lol. Never realized how dangerous it was. I don’t think this kid did either. The newer generation has taken it to a whole nother level. We never climbed on top of it.
