I’ll never forget the Kimi Overtake on Fisichella at Suzuka, 8am, V10 in my ears at 10 years old on Sunday morning.. this is my favorite overtake in F1 and the best I’ve ever seen in my life everything was perfect even the camera angles, it was like a movie AND of course the legendary duo James Allen and Martin Brundle 🫠🙌🏾
That Vettel spin and Button win in Canada does not feel the same in such a snippet. It needs the context of a 4 hour Grand Prix. The waiting, anticipation and still being blown away by the action we got is a huge part of it.

Here are some other classic last lap wins (there are more but I won't list them) -1961 French GP: Giancarlo Baghetti wins on his World Championship debut beating Dan Gurney's Porsche to the line. -1970 Monaco GP: Jack Brabham locks up in the last corner (then called Gazomètre) and crashes, allowing Jochen Rindt to overtake him. Funnily enough, Rindt didn't take the checkered flag at first because they were expecting Brabham. Brabham would end up second. -1970 British GP: For the second time that season, Brabham would end up losing the lead in the last lap against Rindt. This time he ran out of fuel. He managed to cross the line in 2nd. -1977 French GP: John Watson held the faster Mario Andretti behind for several laps, but on the last lap his engine would start coughing, which allowed Andretti to sneak by and take the victory. Watson would run out of fuel after crossing the line in 2nd. -1978 South African GP: Ronnie Peterson overtook Patrick Depailler in the last lap with a fantastic move. -1982 San Marino GP: Didier Pironi controversially disobeyed team orders and overtook teammate Gilles Villeneuve. Without more overtaking opportunities, Pironi won and Villeneuve, feeling betrayed, swore to never speak to the Frenchman again. He would die two weeks later at Zolder.
