There are a few things in this world that rabbits like more than a fresh meal.
In this video, we will discover 14 things rabbits love the most.
Bananas
Although many cartoons have misconstrued that rabbits are obsessed with carrots, the truth is that rabbits love bananas more than any other fruits in the world.
Small, dark hiding spots
Rabbits are prey animals and they find the most comfort in small, dark places where they can hide and feel safe. In their natural habitat, rabbits protect themselves from predators with underground tunnels they can run into and hide.
Make sure to make your rabbit a hideout, like a wooden house in the style of a small kennel, so that they can have alone time and feel safe when needed.
Chewing
Rabbits’ teeth will grow continuously all their lives, and they’re designed to be worn down to the right length by grinding away at food. In the wild, a rabbit’s buffet menu often includes hard vegetation such as hay, twigs, tree bark, and other material that requires lots of chewing. The extensive chewing keeps their growing teeth under control.
Spreading their scent
Like many other animals, rabbits are territorial creatures and they love marking their territory by spreading their scent.
In order to mark their territory, a rabbit will often do something called chinning.
Rabbits have scent glands under their chins. When they rub their chin against something, a tiny amount of their specific scent is deposited on that object, essentially marking it as theirs.
Rabbits also mark their scent through their droppings, urine, and licking.
Being clean
Rabbits are very clean animals, and they will spend a lot of time grooming themselves. They don’t like your greasy or dirty hand on their fur, and their breath or body doesn’t release any bad odors noticeable to a human nose.
Exploring
Rabbits are curious creatures, and they love having the chance to explore new places and run around.
Make sure to provide your bunny a large enough space to run around and satisfy their explorative nature. You can even build a nice playground area for them. Cat tunnels are great gifts for your rabbit as they simulate their tunnels and burrowing systems.
A good massage
Studies have shown that petting is beneficial to the health of both you and your bunny. Petting your bunny decreases their heart rate, and increases a happy molecule in them called serotonin.
The best places to pet rabbits are their forehead and behind their ears. They also love getting strokes down their back or around the shoulders.
Socialization
Rabbits are highly social animals. In the wild, they live in large colonies that have intricate rules and hierarchies. As pets, they still have these social instincts, and they love to spend time with the other members of the household.
Fresh hay
It’s important to give your rabbit high quality hay. It needs to smell nice and be dust free. Fresh and greenish hay is better than brown hay.
Be careful of some bagged hay from pet shops. Many have not had the dust extracted.
Being active
Rabbits are very active and energetic animals. Their bodies were built to run fast so that they can escape from predators. To maintain their health, pet rabbits need a lot of space and time to exercise.
Eating their Cecotropes
Have you ever caught your rabbit doing this? Well, your bunny is eating their cecotropes, which are soft feces that are nutrient-rich.
When your bunny appears to be bathing their belly and they come up chewing, they are actually eating a cecal pellet. It is from these cecal pellets that rabbits get the majority of their nutrition.
It’s important that you as a loving pet parent respect your rabbit’s nature. So, if your rabbit eats their own droppings, let them, as preventing them from their own nature can cause anxiety and confusion.
A little sunshine
Recent research suggests that sunlight is important for a rabbit’s health.It helps them get their vitamin D, which keeps their bones and teeth healthy.
If your rabbit is stuck in sunshine for long periods, they will overheat and suffer from heatstroke which can be life threatening.
Being with you
Rabbits might be in just a small part of our lives, but to them, we are their whole life. They appreciate you and try to show their affection in many ways. Spending time with them will make them happy, and will lead to a longer-lasting and trusting relationship. Make sure not to isolate yourself from your rabbit.
#2. Digging some dirt
Rabbits love to dig. In the wild, they dig holes for shelter, for maternal reasons, to create warrens, to hide from predators, and to regulate their temperature. And beyond instincts, bunnies also dig for fun. It helps them let off some energy.
While rabbits in the wild dig all the time, pet rabbits rarely have the opportunity to. Luckily, you can fill a container or cardboard box with dirt so your rabbit can dig in. A digging box is one of the best free toys you can make for your little pet.

@@hopelessbookaddict9118 I’m sorry to hear that … I know it’s rough , we lost one of ours suddenly she was young . It was horrible,I tried my hardest to save her but couldn’t .she passed away in my wife’s arms and I still wish somehow I could have done more or something else to save her ……..
Even my bunny loves cabbage, 24/7 under the bed, CHEWS EVERYTHING, and loves music she hears musics sounds with so much concentration

😔 I got a new bunny. Hes a baby. And I prob dont help w/ the whole attachment thing but I can't help it. Hes just so damn cute. He gives a ridiculous amount of kisses, loves being on or near me, will climb up some stairs to find me (even w/ his tiny yet fearless self), comes when I call for him, & zooms around everywhere. Even jumps at my shoulder to ask for attention. My hubby found him in the doggos mouth... & rescued him. Well, ahhh that damn dog. She's still our dog tho. So, I was petting on her today. & the bunny was sniffing on my hand... later (I didn't even think about it), after a morning of being out too... (hes that new. Hes not even used to me being gone), & just his little heart tho 😭💔... No kisses, no zooming, hiding underneath pillows, & is only around me for a little bit now. The baby of the household is already over me, & switching up on me too. Meanwhile, my hubby always smells like all the animals all the time. Poor Rocky. He's prob like yeah but I wasn't expecting that from you tho! & to think, I really just marked my entire territory for nuffin 🙄😤. How dare you! That thing would've killed me too, u traitor! 🤷🏻♀️ I put him downstairs near the guinea pigs (the other males of the household) for a bit bc what else am I gonna do? There's always gonna be other pets, buddy. & im not always gonna be around. 😔💔 I gave preciousness his first heart break, I do believe. He still climbs on me, & naps near me. Just not as frequent. Rip to tickly kisses, I guess. At least for now 😭. Hes under a pillow now. _cue Celine dions my heart will go on hurrr_ ___

I wish I would've known this stuff years ago when I got my first rabbit. It was a process that took a while to learn. While raising him we manage to have over 20 rabbits in the end. Thankfully we lived in the suburbs and I was homeschooled. My parents ended up with me taking an extra class. "Responsibility and accountability". It was taking care of the rabbits. To this day rabbits have been a very sentimental animal. (BTW, a group of wild rabbits are called a fluffle.)

My bunny isn't thrilled about bananas. But he goes bananas when I give him blackberries. He LOVES Blackberries ❤️

like people, different rabbits have different preferences for snacking. Some like bananas, some like carrots, some like blueberries, some like strawberries, some like apples and some like blackberries. But always limit sugary treats for them.

My bunny does NOT like Banana's, he just takes one small nibble and leaves😂 (He loves apples though, whenever he sees us eating it, he just starts following us around the house until we give him a piece :> )

My rabbit loves belly rubs and scratches
I currently just got 4 bunnies today. Their names are Brownie, Caramel, Marshmellow & Oreo. Right now, they're in a little house-cage-thing outside in our backyard. They're all adorable and this video is some great advice I'm sure to give to my parents.

@@CandiceSAPA Tomorrow we're doubling the size of their house. We're also adding a fence around it so they can come out and run around. And some day in the next few months, we are gonna make them be able to just run around where ever they want. So, they'll eventually have as much space as they want.

Its so true about the bananas! I have two rabbits at home and whenever we give them some they instantly come and take it. With most other things they hesitate befor taking.
my rabbits fav food is baby spinach, he eats it straight out the bag when you’re trying to give him some; he’s so cute lol

Be careful with that because Spinach can get bunny’s very gasy and can be fatal in large doses. Better to keep them away from Spinach in my opinion

thank god for this video, i just recently got my first rabbit. i’ve never had a pet before so i’m incredibly worried about doing something wrong. she used to be in the care of my neighbors, but they unfortunately couldn’t care for her so they started asking around to see if anyone could take her before they had to send her to a shelter. my mom had always known that i wanted a pet, so she decided to let me take care of it. i’m worried about how my mom doesn’t let me take her inside, rather we have an outside cage for her, but my mom said we can take her into a specific room, so when she trusts me enough, i’ll definitely bring her inside. i’m super excited to have a pet rabbit, thanks for the tips!

@@nickhernandez4052 well how old is he, for my rabbit he was 2 weeks old, he was very stressed and sleepy. You should found him a cage and put him in a cover. For feeding him take him in a cover and turn him on the back, you can buy special milk for baby cat in a petstores. My rabbit didn’t wanted to eat at the start so you need to put the milk in a little syringe for medicine and put it in is mouth. Give him the milk two time per day and put it in the fridge. Be careful if you have other animal and when you manipulate him, don’t put him with other animals he may have some virus. He need to sleep a lot. Rabbit sleep with the eyes open. After a week or two you can give him grass and dandelion, they love that. If you have more question you can ask me or go search on google.
My bunny absolutely loves carrots, but doesn’t seem to like the bananas as much….strange huh 🤔

Every time I have a banana, I give my bunnies a few nibbles and let them eat the peel. They LOVE apples, carrots, strawberries and other berries and lots of vegetables. They get them 1-2 times a week (not all at once though). I have 2 females that are sisters ( they are about 10 weeks apart). The only thing they don't get is hay, and that's because we had multiple bales that had mold and other issues wrong with it. We did research, and a lot of the suppliers had bad bales. So my bunnies haven't had hay since the beginning of the spring. I don't trust the stuff from pet stores. I'm hoping my local feed and grain supplier will have some soon.

You should just borrow from somebody or plant them and one tip green hay are better thank the brown hay and to let them love you you gotta give them some mixed pellets but don’t give them too much because it’s can cause condition I’m about to get a bunny next week I’m so exited that’s why I’m watching these videos and on thing make sure if you have a cage that has a platform where they stand and put some green hay on the platform and buy some beds for your bunnies and some water of course but don’t give them a bottle of water just give them normal water Idk what kind of water they drink and yeah thank me later😁😉

omg whenever my bunny leaves his scent it is always on me he sprays pee on me than he humps me LOL
I kept finding myself making them angry everytime i wanted to hold them, they would either bite, cut me with their leg claws or scratch, its better if they return to the cage themselves when its time to return it doesnt makes us humans happy but theyll love to have that independence and theyll respect you for it.

When I got my first rabbit I was very small and we had a really bad time at first because it was not able to build trust and I was also really mischievous and used to carry him everywhere and I felt like I was not making him feel safe but after some time we were fine and he also knew that this is my family and everything was fine but when he was 6 or 7 years old he died now it's been two to three years and I am planning to buy a new rabbit but I thought that I would treat them in a better way so that I could spend more good time with them I hope this video helps me 💜

4:13 That's interesting because my neighbor's bunny got in my yard and liked me petting it pretty fast. I gave it some lettuce and pet it's head near its ears. It was really soft and it flopped down next to me.

I've had my bunny, Pilli since she was 2and half weeks after she was taken forcefully from by her bunny family, I found her and bought her on the spot quick..no hesitation..all she has really ever known is me,I'm her Big Dumb Dad and she love me so much as I do to her..she's been alive now for 3 years and I can proudly say she lets only me pet her fat butt,and she love it,her favorite petting spots are her chin and face the inbetweens of her ears and back +booty...she a Diva sometimes but she's smart as hell.

I'm proud to say that my rabbit has everything mentioned in this video, except another rabbit to play with. However, he gets love and every evening after a 3 hours rest on the armchair under the sunlight, he comes by himself to get hugged by my family on our sofa !

I officially think my bunnies have a better home than me😂 i have three rabbits (all the same age) they live outside in a big cage with 2 small inside rooms one of which is completely dark amd a bigger part where they can just run and a part of that is in the shade amd they have a huge playpen outside their cage where they can eat grass an run even more, and i live on the countryside so every summer we mow our meadow so we get a lot of hay and we have to cut some branches of our apple and pear trees every spring which we keep for the bunnies as well… oh and i might like buying them things so they might have 9 toys, oops..

Question: One of our rabbits seemingly likes to be petted on the top of her head. Sometimes she starts raising her head from a rested position and pushes against my hand, but when I continue petting her she also keeps grinding her teeth and goes back to chill position

@Blueshellhater thats good news!!! 😊 you see your bunny wanted head pets- and now that your bunny has gotton your FULL attention -he/she will bunnies do exactly what u said- they will "get/sit in a comphy resting position" -as u CONTINUE to pet love on your bunny (that sitting position & grinding/purr -This is your bunnys way of getting affection love they need an want and deserve -and you are doing it right Also understand that - when your (loving on them this way {u are mimicking/copping the behaviour of another rabbit) -(this is -*-exactly how-*- a rabbit loves on another rabbit) so this feels good and comfortable to them they will make grinding noices AnD you can hear them grind this is also known as "bunny purr" (not all bunnies do this but the majority will grind/purr during the "pet me session"- when they grinding/purring its their way of letting you know that in that moment they are pleased and happy with the way you are loving on them and they *don't* want u to stop dont stop until they want you too PS ...if bunny is grinds when your not petting them -if u hear grind noices when not petting them they could be having some dental issues then you will want to take him to the vet as soon as possible
